Thats an interesting idea Nanolu. T&R the roots and let the rest evolve on their own. I'm interested to see how they shape themselves =)

I suspect they might be loopier (isn't that a great word?) while they form. Hmmm, we'll see!

Something I miss now I'm back to square one with my dreads - 'Shampoo pillow'.
If you've ever washed you dreads in the bath and you get them all soapy then lean back in the water to rinse them - the length of time it takes for your head to sink because of all the bubbles.
I was never much of a bath person until I had dreads!

FB people already know about the hairstyle change but I thought I’d best document it here. So I’ve chopped off 9 locks at the front to have it looking like this: Mostly I did it because I was fighting a losing battle with my hairline but also I’ve never really liked my face shape with dreads (which I’ve been able to offset with the bleached ends and curly tips) and I feel like this suits it better. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep trimming what I have left (21 dreads) or not, I might let them grow now. But yeah, I’m happy with it right now! Having to wash it more often etc isn’t as much of a pain as I’d feared and it’s been pretty manageable. And going out in the wind (once I’ve added some product), it seems to hold in place without me looking like I’ve been electrocuted by the time I get to my destination. It’s funny, though, I think I have “phantom dread” syndrome as a part of me could swear they’re still there until I reach up and grab empty space!

Thanks, guys. Hey danzia, have you tried Nizoral shampoo? I gave it a shot after seeing Banjo and Kajzh recommend it on the FB group and it's done wonders for my scalp. I'm down to only having to wash my hair once a week, now (though I have to wash the front bit more often now, of course).

My scalp has been really amazing for almost two years now! Ever since I’ve been using Vital Goods rosemary lavender shampoo, I’ve had virtually no itches or a flaky scalp. I get a bit itchy now right before wash day. I think I just had to find the right shampoo for my scalp. I still swear by my ACV rinse.

So comfortable! I did a knot and then tucked the ends in.

That is just beautiful, Gillian! I can't wait until I can do cool styles like that with my dreadies.

Since I trimmed my hair, was it a year ago nearly?, well it was half down to my butt and the front half only shoulder length. Well from the front it still looks shoulder length to me but it’s got long again back there halfway down my back only more chunky now the rats tails are gone. And I was washing before with bicarb, but as I found them full of dust from it, it’s nearly a year only using ‘simple’ shampoo, but mostly Ecover dish soap. So they must be squeaky clean except the few bits of fluff and goo and porridge.
