Ok, so I posted the other day about having a super itchy head. I followed the recommendations of rinsing with ACV and it helped a lot! Still a bit dry and itchy and not nearly what it was! My question now is, what kind of shampoo do you all use? Right now I'm using dollylock's peppermint Rosemary shampoo bar, which I love, but I'm suspecting it might be what's causing my scalp to be so dry as it has sea salt in it? Are there any other dread safe shampoos I can switch to instead? Thanks!

I've been using Faith In Nature's Tea Tree shampoo for almost two years now and it really helped me with the itchies when my locks were younger. I also have the Aloe Vera one at my parents' house and have liked that one too.
Nowadays I wash my locks with just water and shampoo my bangs.

when I actually use shampoo... Tropiclean Spa cucumber you can find it in pet stores. I couldn't find a natural shampoo in my area that didn't contain sls, sles, fragrances and other crazy ingredients that get left behind. So my dog and I share and neither of us have gross residue.

Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree for me for years now...but I'll have to check this one out. Does the Aloe Vera one also come with Tea Tree?

I use L'oreal sulphite free as its one of the only 'poos that won't strip my colour immediately.
I also condition it when I dye it. I rarely shampoo my entire dreads, just scrub a bit into my scalp and then rinse it through everything.

My go-to shampoo for some time has been New Dawn's patchouli, but I sometimes use T-gel for a change now and then.

I really really like the Lush bars! I wash my hair once a week and one will last me 6 months! My Seanik one just ran out I used to use dolly locks shampoo and my scalp just felt really dry and tight. I enjoyed the Seanik bar a lot

I use the Irie Dread: Stimulating Shampoo The brand makes wax and that stuff too, so I wouldn't try anything else from them. But I like the shampoo, It's like liquid tiger balm.

I'm on the lookout for a new shampoo. I normally use Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle shampoo buuut since our move, we don't live close enough to Trader Joe's anymore so I can't just go buy it :/ and I'm not paying $12 per bottle on Amazon lol.

Same question...looking for something cheap, yet effective. So do you folks use shampoo and then some kind of conditioner...(sorry, i mean, are there conditioners??? or do folks just use oils or sprays or what? Pre-dreads, I was using Pantene ProV 2in1. I actually was still using this in the beginning, because remember, I only have partial dreads, but then I stopped. But the girl I spoke with from Sally's, who has friends with dreads, says I could use any shampoos. Ahhh well that conflicts with what I've read here. In her defense though, I never noticed buildup as I would with the separate conditioner, but I still have reservations and went back to a plain J&J baby shampoo. Of course, I then needed moisture!!! I recently started this (like, well exactly one week ago). www.sallybeauty.com/scalp-itch-spray/SBS-175041,default,pd.html It's hmm seems like it might be drying out my hair a little...i'm not sure though, because it might just be the blow drying excessively. It may be helping with "growth" though, as the bottle suggests. The biggest selling point was the price...but just look at all those chemicals! (Actually, I just looked at the ingredients and they, I mean I really have no idea what's good and what's not, but...they don't seem any worse than what I was using.) For my straight hair, I was using this. www.sallybeauty.com/keratin-smoothing-system/SBS-539233,default,pd.html And it was great! But I stopped using it now because I'm afraid of it getting in the dreads...Oh, the other thing I liked about it (and why I don't like the new one as much), is because it did not irritate my skin...my hands that is. Maybe it's coincidence, no well, there IS lime in the new one. I guess just have to wear gloves while applying. My head doesn't seem to be bothered though, so that's good. But the concern now is with my straight hair...is the Jamaican Lime and Mango good for my straight hair or what do I do to keep that static free and healthy? I keep writing these page long posts. I hope it helps you to help me.
