Hello there I previously posted on here with my first set that I loved so much but unfortunately had to comb out for a position which ended up not working out so I have realized that your hair doesn't determine your professionalism and began my second set of LOCS I took my hair out of braids , left it alone for two weeks and then sectioned / twist and ripped / palm rolled it This was the result Before TNR/ palm rolling After . Day 1 Day 3 Day 8 Today day 11 Fresh twist w coconut oil / argan oil / water Not using any products ( besides water coconut oil and argan oil ) Retwisting on my own every week Looking for tips on how to lose the dull dry look Any DIY shampoo I can make or a good vegan organic brand I can use Is dr bronners ok ? Also heard of using honey instead of wax to tighten my loose roots . Any reviews ? Tips etc Looking forward to keeping this set

You are just a vision Ness! Dreads look awesome on ya. I've used Dr Bronner's peppermint. I dilute it quite a bit, but love how it makes ma head tingle. Some folk swear by the stuff. Just know you can do a BS and ACV rinse if you get too much build up on your lovely locks. Can't wait to see them progress

The easiest way to dread is to let it go. The hardest way to dread is to let it go.

(I'm shy with compliments, but...) Carrie likes this! I've heard honey should be avoided. I mean,...just eat it! You'll get just as much benefits that way plus less mess! Also, I'm concerned about the twisting. I've recently become paranoid about thinning roots, and I would guess that if you are twisting or twisting too often, this might ...i mean, it takes time for issues to come up, but if you intend to have your dreads for a long time, you might want to think about this. Congrats tho! (they really do look very nice! )

I love how clean the baking soda acv rinse would leave my curls so I'm sure it'll be great for my locs Although I don't use any products just water or coconut oil so no buildup yet or ever hopefully Thanks for your time and reply

Lol I'll post pics tonight Thank you though appreciate your response

I don't see why you need to do any more twisting now. You know?

Last nite After palm rolling , moisturizing + coconut oiling All I do besides moisturize + air dry is palm roll + coconut oil spray . Washed w dr bronners 1 -2x but I hear mixed reviews so rather not use anything unless it's the rite ting suggestions 4 a good clarifying or sulfate free shampoo that I can find in my area not online lol ( target Walmart cvs preferably vegan or healthy loc products ) My only concern is that after having it tied up for work ( I work as a chef 50+ hours a week no way I can leave it down at work ) when I try to let it down they're defying gravity laws 😩I guess when I get off and while I sleep I can leave it down . That's what I meant by hanging like ropes I'm also concerned that they are too dry as I initially twist and ripped on dry hair with no product ...... Anything I can do to combat that or do they look fine ? Is it necessary to sleep with a scarf on ? And last but not least (Sorry for all the questions lol) My roots have between 1-2inches of not locked or knotted hair . Is that ok ?

It's normal to have the hair at the roots loose an inch or so . That's how they hang, otherwise they'd stick up all the time and pull on your scalp. Let your hair loose as much as possible you don't need to protect it, the more crazy your hair goes at this stage the better they'll eventually tighten up into solid dreads. They look fine. Your hair will find its balance over time. I used Dr B at first but it was not good for me, as it is a liquid soap rather than a shampoo it reacted with the hard water I had and turned into horrible sticky gloop that's hard to rinse out your hair. Most health food type shops have a good range of more natural organic shampoos without loads of ingredients. Neutrogena t-gel/sal is pretty good with dreads from regular shops but it might dry your hair out a bit. I usually make my own shampoo from bi carbonate of soda, a little sea salt and some Rosemary or tea tree oil mixed in a big bottle of water. It really cleans things well. They look great, you don't need to worry about a thing. Less is more.

Looking good. They look well on the way. I'll echo the most common bit of advice I've received from many: give them time and don't stress much, they sort themselves out.

They look so perfect on you. You are absolutely stunning, too!
As for a good healthy, vegan shampoo, I really like Shea Moisture products. Wal-Mart and Sally's carry it. It's a little pricey (for me) but smells great and leaves my hair feeling super clean and soft.
I'm excited to see your progress!
