It would not be satisfying!!! Your scalp would go into complete shock because it'd be cold!

I never did the short hair thing. I would have loved to but I have the wrong face for that. Oh well, dreads it is!

I think we all get nervous and anxious anytime there's a mention or thought of change. And especially with something such as hair. It's a huge role in our sense of identity. I panicked when I first started. I questioned if I had done the right thing for the first few months. Life now... I couldn't imagine not having dreads. I'm a very spiritual person. I can tell you exactly where in a dread I've had significant life events. It's like walking around with your life energy and soul hanging in ropes from your head.
Anyways, I don't know if I've helped or not. But, if you take the plunge, it's not like you can't comb them out if you decide it's not the right path for you.

It's not always for that long an amount of time. I had my first set for four years, we've had users here who had them for half that time.

danzia, "I can tell you exactly where in a dread I've had significant life events. It's like walking around with your life energy and soul hanging in ropes from your head" that's a nice way to put it! I have one specific memory with a dread (not really by length yet, because they haven't grown out much and I can only see the tips without a mirror, but hopefully those will come soon! I understand you have to develop patience with dreads. You know, I think I was fine until I started looking at all these timelines and now I'm like..."i want!" lol but no, I'm genuinely happy for your successes and I'd never want to take away all that hard work. I've gotta earn mine right? lol something like this I guess. So, you helped. It just helps to get feedback. Sorry for being so whiny, but it sounds like you get it. Dreadlocktruth, you mean that they don't keep them? Well, I guess that's what you meant since you said your "first set". Yeah, if I can get through one year, I'll probably be in it for the long-haul. Eh, I mean I guess I can't really say, but that's just sortof my thinking atm. But no wow! sorry, I just can't get over Chris's. I love those! They are "perfect"!!! (biased opinion.) But so like you know...that takes time. I was just surprised at how different they looked from one recent video to one earlier one.

Oh no, it's cool.... most people call me Paul here. On the left of the first pic is james and on the right of the other pic is dave. The other guy in that pic is Robo, he's not around on here anymore sadly. Christian is actually a member of this community, not sure if you know that (which is why we link to his YT on the main page).... he doesn't post much anymore but pops in from time to time.

Haha yeah that is me with the hair tied back in that picture and with the hat in the other.
My hair is at the perfect length currently to accidentally go into my pint of beer without me realising so I sometimes tie it back when I'm drinking otherwise more alcohol ends up in my hair than my mouth lol. -.-

Did the hair dye not come with some? Probably used them and threw them away, when I did hairdying before. But I can use a plastic bag for groceries.

I just picked up a box of rubber gloves and use those... so long as you get the type that don't have that dusting on them, it's all good. Sat here with bleach on my head now. Took me about an hour to put it in.... and it will take about that long to make sure it's all washed out. -.-

Also, I may have to do a second go-around since I'm lightening darker hair, this time (the blonde grew out and I wanted to bring it further up the locks) so we'll see how it turns out.
