I've tried to read A Prayer For Own Meaney three times now and can't get past the first few chapters. It's good, but I just can't seem to stick with it. It's like I know how tragic it's gonna be, and I just bail before it hits.

Oh I'm about halfway through that, and likewise haven't seen the movie yet.

Right now I am reading some books for my daughter. I wanted to read them to make sure they are not too scary for her. It is the Serafina series. Pretty good so far.

Still doing the classics with "Gulliver's Travels" - Jonathan Swift Unlike the other classics I've been reading, this one I have not read before.

Someone got me the "Slash" autobiography. I'm not a huge fan but I can't put it down. We traveled similar Southern California "scenes" so I'm halfway expecting to read, "When I hung out with jxbx..." ...hehe...right!!

This year, I began to read All of Haruki Murakami's work. Fantastic Writer! I starting with 1Q84 In January of this year. I so far I finished Dance Dance Dance, Norwegian Wood, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Kafka on the Shore and A Wild Sheep chase. I just started his latest book (2013) Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki. But im also reading Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace and A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. both of which i find myself going to more than CTT. I read "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" and it was outstanding. Thanks for reminding me again of his work. After reading this exchange, I decided to check 1Q84, I finished the first of the three books..I am definitely enjoying the writing. Thanks for sharing! I passed by a used bookstore yesterday and found a few jems: Zen Master Dogen by Yokoi Imperial Japan: The Art of the Meiji Era Talk to a Stone by Shinagawa Enso: Zen Circles of Enlightenment

This month I re-read 'VALIS' (a favourite Philip K Dick book of mine, though it was a little more difficult than I remembered) and a short book about a guy who buys his own future grave and retires into an old people's home at 30-something, called 'Happy Days'.
Right now I'm reading 'The Green Mile'. Obviously I know the story from the movie, but I enjoy 'Misery' so much, last month, that I wanted to pick up another Stephen King book. Racing through it so far.
I've also bought a first-edition copy of 'Cujo' (meaning it was published before I was born!) which I'm waiting to read..

Almost finished 'The Green Mile' (probably will today), really enjoyed it.
I mentioned elsewhere that I've been binge-watching 'Bates Motel', so I picked up the original 'Psycho' novel. I'm up to the point in the show where they do that story so I thought I might read it first (I didn't even realise 'Psycho' was an adaptation, actually!) before I gte onto that copy of 'Cujo' that I ordered.

'Interview With a Vampire' currently. It's my first Anne Rice novel. Enjoying it so far... I managed to find a second-hand copy on the drop-off bookshelf in Sainsburys so nabbed it.
