I'm having a few issues with some of my dreads flattening. I have to wear my hair up for work and I can't sleep if my hair is touching my neck. In the past I have twisted my locks with wool dreads and while that works I have a few that are a little too flat and fat to get the wool to attach properly. Any suggestions for rounding them out?

Palm rolling them when wet works for some.. But mostly its all about time. If you sectioned in squares, they will eventually round out as they mature.

The flat ones need love too! I love the difference, I'd say my head is almost 50/50 flat vs. round.

dave, They started out as squares, but over time have developed a more natural sectioning. but I will keep trying to palm them when they're wet. jxbx, I'm not oppose to having a few flats, but there are just to many for my liking at the moment. Thanks

Most dreads end up flat, in time. Unless you do maintenence to them constantly. Nothing wrong with that flat dreads You'll really be the only one to notice them unless someone is touching your head.

I have bunch of flat ones, they grow from a stretch of hair rather than a square. They're interesting. I like them. Let it be, all is well, it's the curiosity you'll love.

MamaKittyLove, The town I live in there are only 3-4 of us that have dreads and apparently I am the most approachable so everyone is always touching my hair. I should really start scowling at people instead of smiling . But you are most certainly right, I am more than likely the only one who notices the flat ones, most people are stuck on the colours. I suppose if I want them to round out I will have to spend less time on the dog's hair and more time on mine lol. taking a closer look at my flats, they are mostly concentrated at the back of my head, which is normally pulled up into a bun or pony tail or under my head as I sleep, which is probably why they flattened. Thanks for all the support guys, I've been feeling a little insecure about my hair lately.

Oh yeah...try to sleep with your hair up over ya pillow. I have to do that or else they get caught my back. Over the chair or couch as well. I'm not sure if that will totally eliminate all the flat dreads, I can swear some just wanna grow that way.

I've got one developing into a flatty lipstic ! just now tried the wet palmrolling...but i'm a bit scared to do this often and thin out the roots...so...yeah, might just have to heed the advice on this page and let it go!

I've found that my flat ones have rounded out in time. So maybe see what happens?
