Also a fiction podcast my friend made (though he's a pro) is "the family tree". It's presented like a mystery that unfolds in a conversational interview format.

Thank you, I will give The Dollop a try!
Lol, I literally just came across The Family Tree, was reading the Podcast of the Week posts on Thepodcasthost.
Going to add it to my subscriptions!
I find I'm listening to podcasts (esp the fiction ones) much like I read books; I'll have several going at ones, to dip into during various times of day / situations - and then from time to time I'll listen to most of a season in one go, just as sometimes I read a whole book in one sitting.

Do you listen to audiobooks at all? I used to a lot but I'm finding that I have so many podcast subscriptions that I can't find the time anymore lol.
But yeah, that's one thing that bugs me a little.... I like to keep track of all the books I consume in a year, including those I listen to, but I can't count the hours of podcast episodes I listen to daily in my list of books I've read even though it's the same action haha.
What do you use to listen, btw? I was using iTunes and the official podcast app but I had an issue meaning I can no longer use iTunes, so I'm now using the 'laughable' app. I find that pretty great (though maybe not for the type of podcasts you consume) as it allows you to keep track of when people appear on other shows.
Here's a general list of my favourite podcasts right now:
1. The Dollop (comedy, American history) 2. Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People (conversational, story-telling) 3. You Made It Weird (conversational) 4. Risk! (story-telling) 5. Book Shambles with Robin and Josie (conversational, books)
Also, a special mention for The Dead Authors Podcast (improvised, conversational) which I'm going through but isn't updating anymore. Extremely funny, though.

BTW I'm glad to have another podcast fan around! XD
They're something I'm very into but a lot of my friends are kinda "meh" about the idea, without realising that different formats appeal to different people and so there's probably something for them.

With regular audiobooks, I run into the problem of finding it difficult to stay concentrated - I lose track very quickly. With an audiodrama (actors, sound effects etc) it's much easier to stay focused. And with the long, chatty panel-type shows, it really doesn't matter if you miss a bit here and there. I do have 'The big Read; Moby Dick', read by various actors (the first one is Tilda Swinton), I might get around to that one day. I do like the book. Also, audiobooks are much more difficult to find free/cheap (legally)... I use Podcast Addict; I like it so much that I even bought the paid version after a few days, which I rarely do. It has everything I wished for at some point, even if I can't always find it right away - but the developer is very helpful in answering questions, usually within hours if not minutes. I've heard great things about Pocket Casts too (and I find the name more sympathetic), but that doesn't have a free version, so I never got around to trying it out. (I'm on Android, but I suspect they both work on iphones, too)

I'm taking a 13 hour long bustrip next weekend (overnight bus to Prague) and I'm already looking forward to all the podcasts I can listen to then!
I'll have probably finished The Bright Sessions by then though; I go through a few of those every day, I'm really loving the plot and the actors.
