frustrated with year and half natural dreads

Hello!  First, this site looks great and it works great!

Secondly, I am starting to become frustrated with my hair.  I have dandruff that is becoming increasingly stuck in the roots of my dreads and it looks awful.  Is nuetrogena t-gel okay to use because thats what i used before dreads and it worked great.  so far i have tried baking soda, dreadlock shampoo from the site, and just a generic anti-residue shampoo from the grocery store.  none have made a dent in the dandruff.  i have really really bad dandruff ...lol.  and any advice on how to get it out of the dreads themselves?Attachment Deleted

Thirdly, I seem to be experiencing a lot of breakage at the top of my hair, either that or it's just new hair growing?  Either way, it looks like i'm trying to grow bangs on one side of my forehead.  and lots of sticking up hair.  it kind of looks like i cut my hair very very close to the scalp and its starting to grow back haha. 

I mean, I do love my dreads.  I know they will look like wonderful mature dreads in five years time.  Just wondering about those two things.

Tgel works great on dandruff. I used it for quite a while but didn't like the smell after a while. I'm using Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree shampoo and I like it a lot. Keeps the flakes at bay.

The little hairs sticking out are always gonna be there. After 7 years, the top of my head can still look like Einstein's hair on a hot, dry, windy day. When it gets unbearable or I want to tidy it up for some event, I'll use some type of light holding spray, mousse, or gel...whatever my kids have at the time.

I take it, you may be the crazy hair stage. All I can say is just stick it out, they get better with time.

Rosemary/tea tree/peppermint oil is said to help with dandruff (eucalyptus probably works too)

I'm at the same point! Every few days I contemplate cutting them off and starting again, and then I look through this site. I went through what I thought was dandruff and actually turned out to be hair that had been pulled out root ball and all, and a lot of it. I found that soaking in vinegar (just plain white) helped reduce the appearance of the roots and i made sure I kept my locks looser. But glad to hear I'm not the only one going through this awkward stage. Good luck!

I have had a flare up of seborrheic dermatitis over the last few of months. I can really appreciate dandruff stuck in the roots, I can get huge flakes of it and have found the easiest way to get it out is to crumble it up until it all falls out. I have been using T-Gel for about a couple of months now, it works great and I LOVE that tar smell.

I have loads of whispy hairs at the front, they're always gonna be there. Its the only place I have grey hair, so the wife likes to taunt me about that as they are more visible
