So I'm debating trying this dry shampoo out, no I don't expect it to actually clean but our a/c died and I'm sweating like a mad woman. I can't be washing my hair twice a day so I stumbled across this... Dry shampoo for red hair Baking Soda, Corn Starch, Allantoin (Comfrey Root)*, Zinc-Oxide, Pro-vitamin-B5, Vitamin C Ester, Aloe Leaf Powder*, Italian Green Clay, Red Iron Oxide, Essential Oil Blend*. It is by a company that seems to have the same values as I do but I have heard mixed reviews on dry shampoo. Thoughts? Concerns? Have you used it before? Warnings? You can find them at hennacolorlab.com/shop/dry-shampoo-for-red-hair/

This is a couple of days late, sorry! I saw this as a guest, and signed up just to reply. #overzealous
I've never used dry shampoo on dreads myself. But I did have a friend who used it. She found her roots were puffing up really badly so asked me to do a bit of a tidy-up on them - fair enough, her job was already leery about locks so they had to stay neat. And yeah... it was pretty bad. There was so much grey gunk in there that it was getting under my nails. Sticky and gross and not cool, no wonder her roots had gone bananas.
Now a few deep cleans seemed to fix the problem (could just be that the funky section grew out and that it's still hiding in there, somewhere...), but it was still a problem. Probably because a dry shampoo is basically just starchy powder that soaks up oil and then, normally, gets brushed out. But that ain't gonna happen with locks so instead it just sits there with the oil it absorbed, all smug and unmoving.
It might be that light use of dry shampoo with regular deep cleaning wouldn't leave gunk, I don't know. I wouldn't risk it, personally.
One thing is for sure though, the heat is not kind to us dreaddies D:

First welcome to the forum!
That was one of my concerns as well, specifically with the addition of corn starch. Everything else is virtually what I use on my hair anyway. I have heard of people using cornstarch to help lock but I'm still leery about using it on my own hair.
So for now I'm drying the oils with baking soda and then rinsing that out with ACV.
Of course if someone has had a good experience with this please let us know.
