Hey all.

So I mentioned on FB about starting a YouTube channel featuring videos of users answering a typical 'dreadlock Q&a' type thing (like the lovely evedreadss uploaded recently). There'll be more info about that coming, but I thought why not create our own tag (DreadlockTruth) with questions to help the community name get out there etc?

So basically I wanted to take suggestions on what questions to include.

These are the questions from the existing tag. I'll probably include most of these in some form, is there anything you'd add to it?

1. Do you remember the specific moment you decided you were going to dread your hair? Where were you and how did you feel?

2. What method, if any, did you use to start your dreadlocks?

3. How old are your dreadlocks?

4. What is the length of your longest dread? And shortest?

5. Do you have any dreads that are especially unique, strange, or awesome?

6. How many dreads do you have currently? Is that the same number you started with?

7. What shampoo or other products do you use on your dreads?

8. How often do you wash your dreads?

9. Do you do any regular maintenance on your dreads?

10. What are your favorite beads or other decorations?

11. If your dreads had their own personal motto, what would it be?

12. If you could start a new set of dreads, would you do anything differently?

13. Is there anything else unique about your appearance other than dreadlocks? (tattoos, piercings, etc)

14. How many people do you know personally with dreadlocks?

15. Have any employers turned you down for having dreads? Any wanted you BECAUSE of your dreads?

16. Whats the WEIRDEST question you've gotten about your dreads? DUMBEST? FUNNIEST? Most Common?

17. Have you ever had a freak accident or an embarrassing moment involving your dreads?

18. Do you have any dreaded role models? If so, who?

19. What dreaded YouTubers could you see yourself hanging out with in real life?

I hate the motto question, haha.
Its cringey looking back at my previous version, and so much has changed, so I look forward to doing another

Other Q's: How do you like to wear them? (Up in a bun/pineapple-style/pony tail/down) and people can add examples
-Maybe separate the question about shampoo and other products, to have one specifically about dyes?
-And a question about music, to dispel the myth that we only listen to reggae?

And how about tutorials on how to wear them--- going off of Dave's q on how you wear them?

We should answer each question individually!

Would it be helpful to have some of us with younger dreads do one? That way there's different stages of the journey..

danzia - I've already stated in the group that there won't be any tutorials or anything like that on the channel. I made that decision because I want people to submit their own videos and I just don't have the time or energy to devote to ensuring that any tutorials/advice are "on brand" so to speak. So we're keeping it to a "spotlight only" kind of thing but there's definitely room for up-do demonstrations etc if people want to.

Amishcandy it'd be open to anyone with dreads, no matter how old they are!

I kinda liked the old question about tattoos/piercings/other unusual things about your look, and maybe one about dyes/bleaching?
