hello,
ive had dreads for couple years now and i was fixing loose hairs to the dreads...the smarty pants i am ended up making a hole with a ingrown hair tweezer in the body of few dreads to put the loose hairs in (back combed loose hairs after) any chance i damaged the dreads? nothing seemed to come apart and with the back combed loose hairs stuck in the hole it seems fine...but i started to think if i damaged it...if i did, any chance i can save it? like put wax or something to make sure nothing comes apart? when i first started my dreads ive read crocheting is bad for the locks so basically i crocheted but with a ingrown hair tweezer...but i just only went through with it once...basically just one hole in few dreads... hoping someone has a solution if i did indeed damaged it...

How thick & long are they? It seems like you'd be fine just to leave it. If you really think it's going to fall off & you want to save it try sowing thread that's as close to the color of your hair through it to help hold it on.

No wax! Wax is never good under any circumstances.
It's difficult to say without seeing a picture but - assuming you didn't just keep going until you'd punctured a huge hole - it will probably be fine. I've had holes show up in my dreads before and what usually happens is they appear to close up, whilst still being there, so they're not noticeable.
Another idea is that you can actually buy dread decorations that go INSIDE the lock in holes such as that... if you think it's strong enough, you could turn it into a new feature and try that.

I've got a a dread with a hole in it that's wide enough to stick a finger through ( if so inclined ). But it's a years old dread and it's fine. If it's a new dread that hole will close up over time. But yeah crocheting too much can break hairs and eventually your dread might drop off. \( °□° )/

thanks for the response everyone...
the hole i made were on my thicker dreads...i was using a ingrown hair tweezer so the hole were of decent size...i had to make it enough to put the loose hairs through cause the loose hairs were thick... i was pulling downwards on the dread after i made the hole to see if it became weak but it seemed fine...so im hoping it closes up like the admin said it would...the loose hairs were backcomb after putting it through the hole so i hope that helps...i mean, that's what i assumed it would happen...but after all was said and done i started to think otherwise...i should of found this forum first before deciding to go along with it...well, now i know haha...
james, did you make the hole yourself or did it happen on its own?
