Question... I make soap and I have a few bars.. it's a hemp infused olive and coconut oil base with a smell amount of infused evening primrose olive oil, then it's just lye and water.. would this be to much oil for week old locks? I have the underneath done now (till I get help for the rest)

I don't know, but that sounds really cool that you can do that!! I think if it has a softening quality you should be fine. It's the "silky smooth" residue you want to avoid.

Thank you for answering! I was feeling alone! Haha! I really enjoy doing it... I think I will wait till the dreadies are a little older... just to be on the safe side!

My Young dreads actually hated liquid shampoo. They only started knotting up once I started using a charcoal shampoo bar. But my hair is strange. But trial and error is best with shampoos. What works for one doesn't work for the other.

I'm learning that real fast! I just wasn't sure if it was ok with the olive oil base...

This sounds lovely. I'm almost out of my current bottle and was going to try a bar next to see if that helps. I was curious if the oils listed in homemade shampoo bars (like the many I've seen on etsy) were too moisturizing but it sounds like not. Your soap sounds amazing Amishcandy

Oh man I got an apple cider vinegar rosemary shampoo bar from Etsy and I'm loving it! It's the cleanest my hair has felt! Right after I wash it has that squeaky clean feeling (it's like I can feel those hairs sticking together!!) and then it's all soft once it dries. It's really wonderful 😊

Awesome! I love how natural shampoo makes your feel so much better then the crap filled ones! Cheers to squeaky clean locks!!! I'm so gonna have to find a recipe with apple cider vinegar in it! That would be epic! I made a new batch this week with some avocado oil, I'm excited it try it today!

I'm slowly switching all my products out for homemade/all natural. Having the locks is definitely a motivator. And I started washing my face with avocado oil and it's positively lovely! I'm so curious about the soap making process but I don't think I'd have time to do it myself right now. My next project is homemade toothpaste and then maybe make up? I might end up shopping for that instead... we shall see.

Making soap is way easy and fast! I do the crock pot method and it takes about an hour and the soap sits for about 24 and it's ready to use. I've never done toothpaste or makeup.. that seems way to involved for me lol Let me know if you find any good recipes
