My highschool boyfriend told me I would look great with dreads. 10 years later... I'm finally at a place in my life where I feel brave enough to start the journey! It helps that I have a super hot dreadhead boy. 😜
I didn't really say "Hey, I'm starting my dreads today, I just kinda... Stopped brushing.
So here's before:
Week 1:
Week 2:
Week 3:
One is starting to tighten up. (I use "tight" in the loosest sense of the term. Badum-ch.)
And introducing... "FRANK". In memory of Derrick and my spider buddy that lasted all the way through last summer and then disappeared this week.
Normally I wear my hair up in a clip when I'm putsin around the house, and try to only wear it in a ponytail if I need to at work or while exercising.
Week 4:
I have super grey hair at 25. Thanks Mum... So I have to dye my hair. Unfortunately, the dye has some natural conditioners in it (next time maybe I'll try henna). On the bright side, my hair looks really cool in Fuschia! So thanks Manic Panic!
Because I have to dye my hair often, I decided to start TnR. During the 4 hour drive home for Easter this past weekend, I got three done (I wasn't the driver lol). They feel great, and look awesome. I think I'll slowly add more and more. I'm in no rush.
Week 6
So I forgot to take progress pics last week, but to me that's a good sign that I'm doing pretty good with leaving it the hell alone. Fuzz level is way up. Scalp is starting to show quite a bit in the back. My blue tips decided to fade to blondish tips...
The sides are starting to catch up to the back in terms of dreadiness. Frank is doing well.
2 months (ish)
So I realized that I don't actually know what my official "birthday" will be for my dreads. There wasn't a day that I made them or decided this is day 1. So I think I'm at about 2 months. I'm going to go with that.
Not much has changed visibly, but my 3 TnR ones in the back have definitely thickened up. Some very minor looping is starting. Separation is pretty much complete in the back. The sides now have to catch up. Derrick has been helping keep them semi-tidy and sectioned nicely. Honestly haven't paid much attention to them.
