Hi there peeps! So here's my second dread journey illustrated! So glad to be documenting this time! Used combination of backcombing and t&r, tried to get them all sort of micro sized but could not achieve that by solely combing...so got some fatties too. Hope you enjoy! So here's a before pic Braids for frizz First day, 13 December 2016 - more than half still in braids... First couple of weeks About 2 1/2 months And now at just over month no. 3 Shrinkiez! around month 4 going on 5.... hardly able to tie back.... 5 month update The one in my hand feels the most solid and also appears to be the fatty of the bunch - Eric Cartman version 2 They're beginning to feel more dreadlike but still loads of loseys... Thank you and vrede

Looking really cool. Love the progress pics. Yeah you can edit the first post to add updates or just keep rolling out new posts. That's a lot of hair to watch evolve.

I love how big hair gets when you start locking it up. Great colour too!

It can be done. I'm not sure if we have a tutorial floating round the forum... there was definitely one on the old site, but it's a long time and pre-dreads since I henna'd mine. I can't remember how conditioning henna is as that would be the main issue.

Counted 198 dreads at first but now counted 205! Last set was between 70 & 80...my hair is so thick!

I saw another timeline here, Eve I think? She henna'd after I think 6 months...my concern is the rinsing out of the henna as well...but I won't try it before they feel solid enough to not loosen up

Welcome! That's a LOT of locs!
I've used henna on mine (albeit at 2 years ish) with no real negative effects - it just lasts forever. I'm assuming you know the ins and outs of henna, but doing it will mean never using bleach or other dyes on it for the considerable future.
It can be slightly conditioning, but is healthy for your hair. Took hours to rinse it all out afterwards though >.<

Sjoe two years are a bit long to wait! But I'm almost certain I henna'd my previous locs, just can't member the experience though...will most probs give it a go around six months in, I'm so sick and tired of other hair dye!

Geweldig mooie dreadlocks!! They're going to be more awesome everyday. I've been dieing my hair with henna for more than 3 years now. Even before my dreads. Dyeing your dreads isn't that more difficult than without dreads. Just make sure to only dye the outside of your dreadlocks and not through and through. I let the henna set for more than 4 hours and when I wash it out I soak my hair in a bucket till the dye is out. Henna is so strong that it won't come out with a small soak. Anyway you don't have to dye your hair, you have a beautiful hair colour of your own.
