Okay, my friend made a comment that it looks like i'm balding because you can see a lot of my scalp through my dreads. And now it is literally driving me insane. I feel really self conscience about it because it is really noticeable. It's because my hair sectioned funny at the top. They are two years old so they won't change at all in that regard. But every time i see other's natural dreads, i never see there scalp so clearly through there dreads. Like being totally honest, I am considering brushing them out and starting again. I don't want to lose the time and patience they took to form but they just look fucked up from the sides... aaaaahhhh!!   |

Yeah as Paul said, it's your natural hair colour blending in with your scalp, not the dreads they will be fine. They change sizes and do migrate positions over the years, so they will balance. If you part your hair a certain way the roots will grow at that angle creating a balance in favour of one direction. Reversing the way the hair parts or sits can take a few months for the dread roots to grow out enough to alter the way they sit. But if you did you'd see them eventually look better on the other side. Also optically, I can see you have more light one side of your head. If we all took pics of the top of our hair with a light upon it we'd all think we were going bald. I had some bathroom lights freak me out with this effect.  |

This was partly the reason (not the only one) that I ended up taking out the dreads on the top of my head. I suffer thyroid related hair loss to an extent, and the dark hair against the white scalp underneath sometime seemed unbearably bright between the sections. I'm happy with it now, though I still miss the ones I took out, but can totally understand where you're coming from. If you're not completely attached to your dyed hair colour I'd suggest allowing your natural colour to come back as that will help create the illusion there's more coverage up there.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I knew doing natural dreads that I would have no control over the sectioning so I just need to relax and enjoy whatever they decide to do. I AM happy with my hair. I do not want to lose all the time I put in. Thank you guys for helping me through my first dreads crisis lol.
