Hey guys! I've had my dreads for a while (not really sure how long.) So it'/s been kind of a struggle sometimes, just because my hair is really messy. They don't look perfect, have the lump/bump look, and the frizzy tips. I get the comments constantly like "why don't they look like [...], They look messy etc. Should they look perfect? Should i cut them? How do i improve the look? Any advice is appreciated

Thanks so much! I'm maybe a year (or a little over). I really like the timeline, and thanks again for the advice.

GRR I hate when people say things like that to me! As if I asked for their approval of my hair! My hair is still in the messy stage (2.5 years now) and may always be like this since I'm quite lazy about it and it seems like like being in this state. I do have fully formed dreads and lots of loose hair that will at times get tangled it's all part of my hair's personality.

Just ignore the comments and KEEP GOING. I am at 2 years natural dreads. When I first started, there were times I had to wear a heascarf to work and a few of my friends said it was approaching the type of mess that was a bit embarrassing to be seen with me in public haha. But it passed and mine are looking great. The moment where I really just totally stopped caring what was going on was when I was most happy with my hair.
