Okay so I'm having a pretty shitty holiday season and need a serious pick me up. I'm looking at DE extensions online and I'm in love. But also, I don't mind making my own... my question of the day, isssssss;
Does anyone have and knowledge or literature regarding taking loose kanekalon fibre, and threading it through the body of an existing lock, and dreading it down into an extension on the head - rather than installing a pre dreaded lock of hair. I know this route is more work, but trust me... I've got time on my hands I'd love to use taking my mind off previously mentioned crappy circumstances. I need something to occupy my time, and if I could create something beautiful at the same time I think it could help to make me somewhat happier...
All the research I've turned out so far only shows me installation instructions for pre dreaded extensions... I want to thread through loose bunches of (artificial) hair, and dread it on my head.... thoughts? Ideas? Links to info?
Please help!

Sorry to hear you're going through a rough time... sending good thoughts to ya! I've never tried what you're suggesting, but it sounds like a good idea to me. I used the loose kanekalon hair this summer when I microbraided some of our kids. We thought it would be cool to keep part of the ends(that were made of only fake hair) loose and whispy... it wasn't at all... they all turned into dreadlocks after only a day or two.... so I know by experience that kanekalon hair knots up really easy!!! The only downside was that the dreaded part of the hair seemed to attract dust and lint quite easily... but I guess that might be less visible if you have any other color than straight black. Another cool thing would be that you could use a crochet hook to form the kanekalon dreadlocks ... as it would obviously not influence or damage your own hair...
But again... I am not really sure what I'm talking about here, just thinking out loud:)
Good luck!
