Orion is 3, and I always respected my children's bodily autonomy in picking their own hairstyle. He started resisting having his curly hair brushed, so I had to ask him what he would like to do, rather than wait for him to ask me for a haircut etc. he didn't want to have it cut or have it brushed every day - so I found a picture of a beautiful child with similar hair in locs and showed him. He chose that and he has adored them from the day I installed them. 😊 I read everything I could find - lots from the Facebook page for dreadlock truth, and a bunch of vids. I sectioned according to the way his hair naturally falls, and used twist and rip to start, with a bit of backcombing and palm Rolling. Crochet looks brutal so I didn't want to do that with him, and after a while I did some needle and loops to bring in strays.

When they were still quite new. The front kept falling out, so I put some lackies in it seeing as that is what naturally set off some locking.

I had to go away for work, and I hadn't talked my brother through what We were doing with his hair, and he bathed him, shampooed and conditioned and ran a brush sort of over the top. He'd already started shampooing and then conditioning when he realised they might be deliberate locs. It undid a lot of the root tightening that had started unfortunately. No worries though!! (Totally not my bro's fault. He was just trying to do the right thing - his daughters hair knots so easily, he just thought this was the same but curly.)

He stopped napping, so I couldn't do much maintenance. I decided on lackies again for root tightening and helping the front establish.

He got nits!!!! I had to use the nit stuff that has the egg killer stuff plus some oils. I nought it would loosen them and make them fluffier. I also shampooed to make sure all the nit stuff was off his scalp - but it seems to have helped them!!! They look neater, the fluff has all flattened down a bit, and they seem longer!!! 11 months!

So beautiful to see a parent allowing their child to embrace something so "different". What a wild little boy, indeed. He is precious and I can't wait to see his progress!

😊❤️️ thanks guys! They drive me nuts at times with the fluffiness, but he dislikes having much maintenance done - except going to the beach! Lol

Well, I think we're somewhere around the first birthday of my Wild Boy's elflocks!!! He still loves them to bits, and has begun refusing to wear them tied up. Santa brought temporary bright hair colours for the three children, his is orange, but he doesn't want to colour his locs, he loves them as they are. ❤️
