Very lovely tiles, Gillian, what are you going to do with them?

Hahahah!!!! Thanks lovey!
It's for our class gift. One of my classmates is a mosaic artist. We took pages of our dissertations and painted them with translucent paint. Then she shredded them and made a collage from them. The tiles are going to be the border. It'll be on display at uni permanently.

I tried to imagine a map of a word looking at this mosaic: Americas and Africa go ok, but rest is gone meanwhile I'm working on my book about local taxes with my mate, pretty boring

So I got this dress for my birthday and while I love the print it's the sort of thing that does NOT look good on me. For one thing, due to a... Thing in my past, I can't have anything tight around my neck. It freaks me out. For another thing, I have a chest, and high necked tops just make me look insanely frumpy. So I decided to use it for my very first ever sewing machine project! The way I figured, it was a nice gift that I'll never wear anyway, so I've nothing to loose (and I can always buy something and say I swapped it). Anyway, TADAAAA! I turned it into a skirt! Elastic waistband and a hook and eye closure. I left it that way as I'm still loosing weight so I can take it in at a later date. I'm not massively concerned about the stitching being a bit wonky in places - this is my first ever project - and I don't wear tops tucked in, so I can hide my sins. Anyway, look! Being off work may have an advantage after all

alethionaut i love the pattern on that dress!! And the repurposing you've done! Great idea I myself have been dabbling in the art of bead and stone wrapping. Still very much in the learning/trial & error phase but I finally completed something wearable

Still very much in the learning/trial & err phase but I finally completed something wearable The dresswas that skirt? I really should just come on the PC so I can see this better. Anyway, actually, sewing has been my alternative to knitting this year. So that was really cool! um now to the one who posted about the wrapping (this mobile device is seriously annoying and finicky so im being lazy as hell here and just trying to type this up) im curious about your wraps. I do not do it but i know someone well who does it.

No pics today, but some shortly. tshirt quilt-may ask for some help with this one. Not design...well, I'll explain next later. just altered a tshirt knitting projects: (started these years ago and just got distracted) -a bolero top -a full adult sweater ...oh! -(and the coolest, or the crappiest one lol) a Resident Evil umbrella blanket (or table mat? Lol) for the hubby. It's my own technique, so it's original but...possibly crappy. This, I hope might actually post here so I can get some feedback (it's so far from done though, but I think I have a pic of it far enough along where you can get the pattern idea) my head itches now! Omgsh, it's snowing!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- edit: ok, did that work? (not gonna make a habit of this just yet, but gonna try) if it worked, that's my probably best at the moment "from scratch" sewing project. I noticed though that it was not complete in this photo (missing the collar? but the whole trim around the front edge and possibly the belt?) It's the only pic I have tho! (and haha it's too worn in now to photograph! actually wearing it as I type this! ) -The "Resident Evil" blanket/table cover-> -Don't have a pic for the bolero. I finished one front piece and then the other (but since it was years between those two haha I have to make the first piece again!) Now, I am just working on the back. (beautiful soft navy blue like crinkle yarn...forgot the name of it, it's been so long.) -Ok, gonna attach this last one though, because close up might be the only way to go to actually see the pattern. One of my current knits. It's really not very far along...still. (takes like 10 minutes to complete two rows! ok, maybe not that long anymore, but it does take awhile)
