It looks good Btw I love drawing at night, by lamp light. So relaxing. And when I draw Hannibal stuff, I always put the soundtrack on to get me in the headspace so I imagine drawing an artist you're listening to is similarly chill.

The only way to draw, paint, ect is with music moving your body. I completely agree with music as my favorite muse. I've decided that I'm not a fan of pastels though. I don't care the cost, I'm replacing my paint and brushes tomorrow. I lost it after my sister moved when I had painted cherry tree blossoms on one of her dresser draws. 100s of paints and brushes completely gone.... I've been trying chalk and pastels but every time my dog wags a tail, everything comes undone.... errrrrrrgh. Ha! But uggghhhhhherrrgh

I'm fond of drawing with charcoal, myself, but that has a similar problem with the dust that comes off it. I must have inhaled so much of the stuff!
Have you tried pressing down harder? I usually find a layer of dust comes off if I blow on it but the base line remains. Also, it can help to draw with them on textured paper.

I've got the textured paper, but never applied much heft to the drawings... hoping I'll save more blush for art's sake. Guess I was wrong. Lol Thank you kindly for the insight. I've got more than half of each pastel that I will bury deep within each page I have left

What am I working on? THIS DAMN SITE!
Between the redesign and remaking the FAQ I reckon I've put in about 20 hours on improving this place over two days, but I'm pretty pleased with how it looks and functions as a dread resource now rather than just our little secret community. You can't say I haven't tried haha.

Guys and gals, thoughts please? I just finished the strip for the competition at Thought Bubble next month. One of the things I'll be judged on is how well the visuals tell the story without the benefit of the word balloons. So, I don't expect anyone to get it 100% right (as there are details you wouldn't be able to interpret from the art alone) but, just to give myself an idea of if I did that well, can some of you give me a take on what you think is happening in this story? Not panel-by-panel or page-by-page or anything, just in summary. Thanks! I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Really, really tough script to draw (which I guess is why they chose it!) because it had pages with lots of panels and multiple panels featuring big action scenes meaning it was difficult to juggle between giving them big enough space to be impactful whilst leaving enough space for the rest whilst also using interesting layouts etc. I was also working with the previous notes I've gotten from the editor on my style - backgrounds too busy, not enough space for word balloons and characters looking a bit too stiff. I think the middle one might still be a slight issue but I think I've done OK with the other two.

I am terrible at deciphering comics in general so I'm not going to attempt. But the artwork is incredible!

I've not felt up to much in the way of critique lately. It's been hard enough to get going with my own work. However, my take on the theme after a brief glance.... 'Look what the Bastards did to our best man... let's send him back in style and with a big fuck you!' Any vague resemblance to the storyline? I got back to throwing earlier...
