Sorry to bring the tone down on this one guys! I'm just so frustrated with my dreads atm 😣 They're crazy loopy zigzagy folding back on themselves and that's cool but I'm totally at a loss as to what to do with them on a daily basis. They've shrank quite a lot and some of them have gone from shoulder length to about three inches. Guess k just need a little rant ✌️

Awe three inches! cute!! you'll have to trust me, but mine shrunk a LOT too, and I have at least one 3incher right now, a few 4-6inchers, and the rest are still in the process of locking. Ha! I have a range of like 15inches to 3inches. How's that for funny!? idk So my plan for when they shrink though is to just wear them down. Soon enough they'll grow long enough for a ponytail or bun. Actually, I think at THAT point is when I might have frustrations...but well, I'll deal with that when it comes. I actually really like this thread. Can I join you sometime for a rant?? haha Although, I'm happy with mine right now, and I hope you will be soon too. Just Google search dreadstyles with the short locks or wait and someone else will share their short dread tips. I'm sure there's a way to style them, so don't fret!

No worries! It happens!!
When you get this feeling, try and refrain from doing anything rash right away. If the feeling lingers for a month or so, maybe they are not for you.
In the past, every set I've done has shrunk by at least by 50%. From others' timelines, you can see some experience more shrinkage.
There is a time where all you can do is wear a hat or put it up or pull it back, etc. It's part of the process.

Having the same issues. And I've had moments where I considered combing out. My hair would be so much longer if I did. But that comes with its own annoyances. What jxbx said. Learn to love scarves and headbands and hats.

Keep going, it is a process and this is one of the stages. Shrinkage and loops are normal and should be happening. They are on there way to becoming mature dreads. I wore a headscarf to work in this stage. Trust me, you WILL be happy with it. Just keep moving forward. For me, I really started loving my dreads when I stopped caring what they looked like. Now a year and a half later, They look great.

Trust me Hun, mine went from waist length hair to three inch little babies, and while it was frustrating because I genuinely didn't know how to get them away from my face, I persevered through the torment. It's a long struggle but if you keep at it, your dreads will be worth it

Headbands and beanies are really the only answer for keeping my hair out of my face. I've noticed a lot of headwear is on the tight side now though which can be uncomfortable. You gotta find stuff with a lot of stretch or extra room to it.
