Hi all, I'm glad to have found this site, and thought I'd share my little story. It's hard to say how long I've been dreading my hair, since I have never really combed or brushed it, ever. But now it's been a bit over a year since my last haircut, so I started noticing some tangles and such probably around 8 or so months ago. I've always wanted to wear my hair ling, but it's so dense that I've never liked how it looked or felt when long. But the dreading is actually helping that, pulling together some of the hair and actually making it more manageable! I've tried to take a pic to show some of the stumpy and funny-looking dreads that have been forming in the back. Some of them are so incredibly loopy and stumpy! And there has been significant shrinkage back there(nope, I wasn't in the pool ). I'm hoping that as those dreads grow longer I can maybe cut off the strange looking bits? Anyway, just thought Id get started here. Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hi welcome to DT. The photos aren't showing up unfortunately. Hi, and thanks. Yeah, I am able to see the photos only if I open them in a new tab. Maybe Google Drive isn't the best host for this site?

I use Flikr, so a photo hosting site is probably your best bet.

The easiest way to dread is to let it go. The hardest way to dread is to let it go.

Sweet!!! Thanks, it's freeform for sure. I twisted a few in the very beginning, but only half-heartedly, and I'm sure they didn't stick.

Thanks, I went back and used Imgur and got it working! Thanks for your patience! oh hey! I HAVE to be patient because I've given plenty of reason for people to need to be patient with me! (btw haircare is me too...so, as I said, be patient as I transition accounts, haha or use both. ahh! ) Anyway, looking awesome! great progress so far! Haha. Thanks, and no problem! I'm slightly nervous how it will look when more and more hair gets pulled into dreads.... I kinda like this stage with plenty of loose hair, so I'm gonna keep separating a lot and see how it goes.

Lol nervous? Why man!? itll look great either way! You can always leave some strands loose ifyou want. Can always comb out parts later too, although that gets a bit harder the moremature they get, but not impossible. Ah thanks for the encouragement man I dunno, my dreads underneath are very loopy and stubby, so I'm not sure how that'll look, but yeah, I trust the process!! That said, I think I may cling to some loose hair for a while at some point.
