I have wanted dreadlocks since I was thirteen years old. But never ever took the proverbial plunge, due to not being 110% sure, and being told I'd have to shave my head and what not, should I change my mind... well, now I'm 27 and six months in. My only regret, is not starting them 15 years ago! Pre dreads I've always had fun with my hair.... After the "purple period" I had a colour correction and was working on getting my length back, washing less, and doing LOADS of research. I started my locks with a combination of TnR and backcombing, and at first I had made kanekalon fibre extensions, as my hair was only shoulder length, and I had a fair amount of shrinkage. The beginning; Keeping it out of my face while creating; Gracie loves my locks, she likes to preen them! Extensions! My colour correction faded really quickly, leaving me with these dark brown extensions dreaded in to blonde tips which led to dark roots... which looked... odd. We'll go with odd. So I took them all out! And have embraced my crazy, bumpy, curly, swirly locks ever since! (Saw someone else on here with this bada** Darth Vader bathrobe,) We are now celebrating six months of patience, and growing, my dreadlocks and I. And I absolutely am in love. I should have done this sooner. Although my first experience with extensions was less than pleasant, I am considering adding some length with human hair extensions, also made by myself. My mom has recently started her chemotherapy treatments, and has decided when her hair begins to thin, she wants to cut it. On her own terms. I asked her about possibly having some of her hair, to Dread into my own to always have with me, and she loved the idea. So when the time comes for that step, (hopefully not for a while!) I will definitely update this thread! Thanks for having me on this forum, stoked to be here, you can see lots more of my Dread pics on insta, @dread.red.kroovy 😉

Looking great Robyn. Yeah I was going to say be hesitant about extensions but as it could be your mothers hair, well that's beautifully fantastic. Hope she does well in her treatment. Anyway, lovely photos. Keep sharing.

Thank you locococo, Grace is one of two of my feathered children, and my job is pretty rad! Gingerdreadman thank you, it's over five years in the making and still not finished! JXBX loving the little knottiest, it's the loose bits that drive me mad!
