Now matter what my wife's roots get super matted I'm unable to get a good picture so I found a example on Google it can be separated by pulling apart but her whole scalp is 1 matted mess u can't get your fingers under it to separate from the roots.

When I seperate, I usually go down towards the root rather than up from it. I grab two dreads in simply pull them apart (which is easier and less painful when they're wet)

So as long as there separated to the root from each other it's fine? The massive matting web doesn't matter?

It's hard to tell from the picture but I would say most will be having some extent of "webbing" with hairs around the root. Probably half of my dreads are trying to eat each other, but it's fine because I just pull them apart as far down as I can as they grow out. It doesn't lead to any problems if you stay on top of it (and example of a problem would be letting it go for so long that several dreads join together into one huge dread that you can't separate, but that would take a long time).

Okay. All her dreads are separated from "eating each other" it's just the roots that eat each other u can't even see her scalp or sections any more.

Well, we've had plenty of people on here who freak out about the fact their scalp is visible so she's a lucky gal I don't think it's anything to be worried about.

How often are you separating them? I had to do it every other day or so in the early months.

Everyday and there a little over a year now. Basically if we stopped seperating she could have a uni dread easily.

I remember going through a period where I would be separating them daily, so perfectly normal from my point of view.
