This morning I read some confirming news. I would add comforting, but only because I sortof loosened up my crocheted dreads (well most of them) so I dont really have them anymore, but well the evidence of having them is still there, so I DO kindof still identify with them, but they are slowly moving away from this phenomenon. Here is what I read, "this brings up the unseen issue that photos cant show...scratchiness.. most crochetters have described the feel of thier dreads as scratchy..like brillo (steel wool) thats the broken ends sticking out all over much like a beards stubble as it just starts to grow in" This is exactly what I had brought up and have been experiencing since like the last 5, 6 months, or well, my entire journey. Right Lazydreads (sorry, but just wanted to follow this up for ya, dear) and paul, james, acid, pete, jxbx, gillian, kezi...and whoever else used to comment. (Dave?...gah! Feels like forever ago!) The "brillo pad" syndrome, when all I ever wanted since first seeing them, was that soft look (well...could only really "see" it with the dreads in motion-so Chris's videos). Well, I can definitely say this has been a learning experience, and I NOW know how to get what I want. Thank goodness I only did partials that first go around, because now I can already see the difference with the neglect partials and I am loving it!
