Will be 13 years next week when I had my dreadlocks done. Now 37 years old and I was 24 years old at the time not 25 I mentioned(my mistake).I always liked dreadlocks and wanted to have them. One day I knew it was time and walked into a hair and beauty shop that did them, still go to this shop.Said I wanted the dreadlocks done and went in the back. Then it was on,the lady that did mine was good to me and I just sat there. Was not nervous at all through it and loved the results looking at the mirrior.Knew there was no going back and noticed something too.I felt that I had more confidence and found something about myself. The first time my family seen them,my mom and 3 younger sisters had this OMG look on their faces at first. They said I looked good.My dad whom passed away in June said I found something about myself and told him it is true.My mom and 3 younger sisters call me the dreadlock daughter and sister to this day.Did decide I would never part ways with them.Did have pictures,ex husband got a hold of them and destroyed them. That hurt and I was mad at him for that.

Awesome!!!! Mine are 8 years old sometime this month, my oldest set thus far. What differences do you notice when a set is that old? Here's my observations thus far: 1) All traces of knots and loop have all but vanished. 2) Dries faster, I wouldn't believe this but it does. 3) Grows fast (this might just be me). 4) No real spongy feeling in any of 'em. Oh...and one last thing...

4) No real spongy feeling in any of 'em. Oh...and one last thing... first, the spongy (not spongy) thing. do you mean, they just become solid like?? because the oldest parts of my oldest dreads are getting this way-losing any softness. Makes me nervous, but if that's how they're supposed to be, then it's all good I guess! and then...AWE!!! WORTHLESS?? I PERSONALLY take some offense dude! Obviously, I don't think it's worthless heidij4 !! Awe! But you really think MY timeline is worthless jxbx?? Well boo!!! I am not upset, just don't take offense that I don't care. (actually, I DO care some and have been trying not to update every other day ) It's kindof funny, because I was just thinking about how my dread journey has taught me more that I shouldn't care about how I look, er that looks don't really matter in the grand scheme of things...so...in a way, I have some advantage being "invisible"

If ya feel uncomfortable posting pictures heidij4, I get it. I'm only trying to take a peek at an 13 year old set. It's a rare sight.
