ahhh!!! the tapestry needle thread (haha THREAD! ) Finally got to check it out. first off, "How do I have long hair, but not shed so bad? Dread it...I thought of course. I thought if I dreaded, then I would eventually have long hair and no shedding." This is pretty much my exact thinking!!!! Yeah! Actually, you just put into words what I have been tryin to explain to my husband for the past four months, well, more like 3. Anyway, nice, nice set!! And they got thick too! I wonder if mine will thinken that much. hmm. and what else? oh...did you start with straight hair, or was yours a bit wavy? isn't that first few weeks of natural dreading, or not combing, just like so awesome for your hair!? I just love those waves! kinda too bad (IMO) that you can't just stay there...and well, see i am in the shrinking stage, well near the end, i hope, but it kindof has me slightly bitter. We were supposed to preserve that long hair right!!!?? Oh, ok so maybe YOU can answer me (either check my specific thread for this, or just reply)...I am trying to decide, ok well, I have partials right? and so I have all this long straight hair, but it feels so thin because the dreads have shrunk so...my question is, do I cut it all to a more even length??? Or do I keep it? The long hair is really nice looking, but the dreads sticking out look pretty bad...the dreads by themselves look pretty rad (sorry, i don't actually have pics. I might have a diagram I could PM to you! ) but yes, so I am aiming to decide by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Well...you know where to find me!

@vacantalleyways, I would trim them to the same length. I always wondered that would become a problem with people who decide to have partial dreads. If you dont trim, they will always be a different length, well until the dreads stop shrinking.
My hair is pretty wavy. Its so thin that if I twirled it around my finger they would curly cue. It always wanted to knot up, so I just let it.

iriemama , I appreciate the thoughtful response here. I ...actually I wondered about someones hair whether it was wavy or if that was just the dreading process...that was probably you! But yeah, mine is doing that now, I think just because it is so long (because I actually have straight hair.) So, thanks! I do appreciate all the thoughts here though because I really am back and forth. There are pros to both. This morning I thought the long hair is good because it helps to tie back into a bun, but also, it is good...ok now I have already forgotten because I just washed it and now have to detangle it and I think I am just going to break down and look for that conditioner Kezi uses. edit: oh yep! Definitely was your timeline! edit edit: or...no maybe it wasnt. But i do see that i commented about your waves. Oh i f that is your natural hair...awe, well i love it! but i love your dreads too! And i love the pulled back look such as in your profile pic. I totally rock that look myself

awe Kate! I've always loved your attitude with dreads! I had copied/pasted what you said, but then I realized I said it already?? this tho "How do I have long hair, but not shed so bad? Dread it...I thought of course. I thought if I dreaded, then I would eventually have long hair and no shedding. "Anyway, hey, that IS really exciting to do the "not-dreadbun-but the bun-ish style" And length is always going to be exciting, so kudos!
