I was recently lucky enough to have been treated to a trip to a Lush store. My friend bought me a shampoo bar and grabbed a "damaged" hot oil treatment bar on a stick thing. She said it would be good for my locks and politely insisted she get it for me. I'm wondering if anyone has used this before. I figured my hair is probably damaged from all the coloring and drying and never conditioning. I was going to try using it tomorrow morning, but I figured I'd ask and see if anyone has any tips or warnings about this stuff first. (It smells amazing if that counts for anything lol)

Its residue free, but you can still get it in that way. (I think that is why i was told not to) Don't know about the hot oils though. Funny you should mention Lush. I was just looking over the whole site the other day. I am curious of these hmm, not the bath bombs, but ones that activate in the shower. It's just like a fragrance thingy though, for like soothing. Oh, and i also noticed how some of the products have funny names.^^ I would love to go in a store one day. Looks like it be a total treat of the senses!

I've been using the NEW! one cuz I'm a sucker for cinnamon/cloves and the seanik one just didn't smell as good to me. Plus the lady in the shop advised it was good for scalp health and hair growth and I'm dying to get some length to my locks. Plus, this summer heat and dry air has been irritating to my scalp.
Mostly, I'm curious how easily this treatment will wash out or if I'll have to soak my hair in hot water afterwards. I figured I'd just make the oil treatment a little on the watery side and palm roll with it and shampoo it out. Maybe I'll save the treatment for before I do my next deep cleaning? Or maybe I'll use it and do a deep clean afterwards if I need to? My hair did end up a little darker than I wanted so I don't mind the color fading a bit. ... I'm very conflicted here. I want to use it, but not if it's going do more harm than good.

I would just use it as soon as you can, and I think you can easily tell if you need to deepclean it out.

Give it a try! Won't hurt to use it a couple times to see what happens. Once dreads lock up pretty good (and yours look pretty solid) you can almost treat 'em like "normal" hair again with regards to hair products. I say almost, because if I use conditioner on my head, the dreads are fine but my loose hair gets really super-fly-away...hehe.

So, this stuff is hard to get out. I shampooed twice and then soaked my hair in hot water and I can still feel the oils in my locks when I roll them. I'm gonna try washing with dawn dish soap and warm/hot water next time I shower and see if that helps. Hopefully it'll come out on its own after a few more washes? :/

just deep clean! question-the hot oil, how did you apply this? cuz maybe you only needed a few drops or something?? question-you still roll your locks? Seems like they are pretty solid already and you shouldn't need to anymore. just rub oiled hands down from root to tip and finished! No? Hey! I think you're cool locks are what reminded me to dig up that old cartoon! Seriously, I love how funky yours are! And I had a "rogue dread" (just, it decided to stick out) this evening and thought of your fun "bedhead" photo.

The oil melted into a cream. And there was enough to fill a coffee mug. Most of my dreads are nice and solid cylinders now so I really only palm roll the lumpy ones or after separating and tucking in loose hairs. Or if I want my hair to dry faster I'll kinda spin the water out. A lot of mine in the back are thicker than I expected and still need to tighten up so I roll those best I can. I'm hoping they'll get a bit thinner as they shrink more. Maybe get a little length back. Anyway, after showering today, I think I got all the oil out now. My hands don't feel greasy anymore after rolling some dreads so it wasn't really a problem.
