Ok so this is my second set of dreads I didn't section them well last time and I just did all the wrong things. So I waited a year and dyed my hair back to its natural brown and re did them. I really love them so far but most of my dread is lose ends like I don't even feel like there are knots more than half way up the dread (I can feel the roots getting much tighter though). They are about to be a month old and I don't remember them being this lose last time. I just want to know if the dread will knot up towards the bottom on its own and I should leave it alone and I'm just being paranoid or if I should try re back combing them. Thanks for your time!

Hey Phoebe,
At only a month old, your dreads still have a LOT of tightening to do and there's no need to worry about anything just yet. Most people find that it takes between 7-9 months for their hair to feel like it's really knotted up (even longer in other cases) and loosening is common in the earlier stages. For the first 3-4 months you'll probably find that they continue to loosen as the hair moves around but rest assured that this is a natural part of the process. So my advice would be to just let them be and not worry.
Also, this forum was set up as a temporary home while the main dreadlocktruth.com forum was down. That site is back up and I'd recommend heading over and taking a look at the "Timelines" section to see examples of what other people's hair looked like at that early stage. You can access the forum via the Tapatalk app, if you're restricted to mobile.
