How often should you retwist your hair? I had dreads before an was getting them twisted every other week. Now I'm back at it again with growing them. I've read a couple of place where they say that you should retwist the once a month in the baby location stages. I'm so confused I like getting them done every other week but don't want to damage my hair. An one more thing I use pro-style gel is that also good to use?

Well, the advice we generally give people is to leave it alone once their dreads get put in so I guess the most common answer you'll get is to not re-twist at all, not use any product and just let your locks do their thing. Your hair type should knot up really fast, anyway.

The easiest way to dread is to let it go. The hardest way to dread is to let it go.

The fact is, hair will dread when left alone. At the very least, you will separate into smaller chunks unless you want one big hair mat. T&R, backcombing, towel rubbing, etc, will accelerate the process up to a certain point. From that point, nature needs to takeover and allow dreads to "find themselves." From my experience, after the initial T&R'ing of my whole head, I would only have to go and "re-T&R" the ends of some 3-4 times at the most afterwards. As a rule of thumb, the less product in your hair the better. There's stuff that's suppose to help dreads along, sea water will do the same, but I have yet to use either to dread.
