Gah here I am again. I'm just not feeling the top of my head honestly. I've combined some dreads, the roots are all messed up, and I don't like the sectioning. I think I'm going to comb out the top few dreads and redo them. The rest of my head is cool and locking much better. The top layers are pulling weird lately and kind of hurting my head, and I'm seeing a bit more scalp than I'd like to. How do I even comb them out? And would you recommend backcomb or TnR to redo them with? How harmful to my hair is this going to be? I'm absolutely dreading doing this (no pun intended) but I feel like I have to. Thanks <3

TnR and back combing will have basically the same results. It shouldn't be too damaging if you use a lot of conditioner and are gentle about it! You can use a metal toothed comb or even something like a knitting needle to gently pry the hair apart, starting from the tip and working upwards. Good luck! And when you redo them, leave a bit extra at the root to avoid more head pain!

Yeah, and don't forget to soak your dreads in hot water first (helps the conditioner work better). Idk if that wad common sense, but I didn't do it and it was a pain and took me forever to take out only a small section of just ONE dread once! Best wishes!

The easiest way to dread is to let it go. The hardest way to dread is to let it go.

I dunno...maybe it's just me...but I don't see anything wrong with your section, scalp, or roots that warrants a redo. Upon closer inspection of my own head, I can find all kinds of flaws and shit that "could have been better" but looking at my head as a whole...they turned out damn perfect
