What do you mean it sucks? They look normal for a new set. They will be puffy and stick up for a few weeks! Just relax and have patience..

Time is all that will really help. As your hair grows, your roots will relax and the dreads will droop. They are just too tight at the root at the moment. Wearing a hat will be a temporary fix

No worries leo. I wish my dreads were that tight when I started them. Looks like a great foundation! If you're happy with the sections and really want dreads keep them. Look through all the timelines on this site and you will see all of the crazy funky stages dreads go through before they become ahhhmazing. Embrace your inner Sideshow Bob

The spiky stage is the best. I swear I wish that stage would keep longer than it does.

Yeah that's definitely what most people's dreads with short hair look like early on, so no need to panic. You can try sleeping in a stretchy hat to tame them but it will only do a little.
As others have said, they will begin to lay down more as they grow out and the roots become looser vs the heavier dreads so you just have to ride out. Unfortunately people have this idea that dreadlocks are an instant hairstyle but that's not the case.

thanks guys for your support.... my dreads are much better now, but they are getting loose, is this is normal? Yeah, in the beginning they expand and contract, loosen and tighten, form loops then the loops get tighter. (This is partly due to the fact that you will be trying to separate.) Then they reach a stage where they "find themselves" and begin to compress into dreads. The loosening you're experiencing now will help your dreads "stand down" and give your scalp some relief.
