The question is, well sometimes there might be times when we will have to soak our hair more often (like every other day or daily. Think summer.) Well, but our hair won't always be dirty. Should we shampoo EVERY time we soak our hair or is a water rinse sufficient? (Just wanted to try something different with the poll here. I know it is not necessary and may even be silly, but who cares!) You can vote, comment, both, or none of the above! (Farewell!! ^^)

A shower cap works too, but yea. Mostly just rinse.

I shampoo once a week, which is necessarily because of scalp problems. A rinse in the middle usually extends my time without washing for a day or two.
(also, just a heads up that polls don't show up on Tapatalk so you'll probably get more text replies than votes)

I wash every single workday, I work in a fastfood restaurant. I really don't like the smell and feeling when I get home. The oily fumes really put a greasy layer over my hair, skin, clothes...everything really.

I wash it once a week, I used to rinse with water during the week but I don't bother anymore (mainly coz I can't be bothered to dry it)

Thanks folks! I know, ideally, we wouldn't be soaking our hair so regularly, but circumstances of late, I have been doing so every day...well, kinda hoping it was only temporary, but it will probably be of concern again some day. Uhhhh, so follow up question for nadia or others needing to wash daily who see this in the future (see below) nadia, what shampoo do you use, do you experience any dryness and if so, how do you treat it. and lastly, have your dreads experienced any..."distress" (like thinning roots, or well...dryness is the only other i can think of now), due to frequent rubbing them/squeezing them dry? (basically, what tips or suggestions might you offer? thnx) nafets yeah, drying is most unfortunate. but, gotta do what ya gotta do!

Just wanted to respond here because I really like the shampoo I'm using it's called Faith in Nature (British brand I think) and it super good, no bad stuff in there, doesn't strip the natural good oils on your scalp, and smells delicious because of the essential oils. I also only wash once a week. And if you're worried about breakage and thinning it would probably be good to wash no more than that. With the rest just being water rinses. If your hair is used to being washed every day I would suggest slowly increasing the days in between to avoid them becoming greasy, cause greasy means they will suck up lint like a sponge. Only thing I know about them becoming wet every day is to dry them properly so that they're not going to be constantly damp, cause then mildew might evolve.

Do you add any or? If so, I would stop that immediately! I have myself had problems with small pieces of lint getting stuck in my dreads but I didn't know until I bleached my tips, cause only then could I see the darker bits of lint. Now I desperately try to get it out of my dreads every time I notice some, but it's really difficult. A way I try to avoid it getting there in the first place is sleeping with a silk cap, as a lot of lint buildup comes from your bedding

It Is easy to do too much, and lasttime i was careless. Havent seen lint yet tho. My dreads are really dry though too. Soak up the oil right away, itis only my undreaded hair that gets super oily or the new neglect partial dreads. I have two seta of partial dreads, you see. Sorry, no pics.
