I've been wondering about this, if you were to find mold in your dreadlocks, would you have to cut them off/shave your head to get rid of it, or would you be able to brush them out and get rid of the mold?

You wouldn't have to cut them out or brush them out. You cause just deep clean them acouple times and it would go away. The only way that could really happen is if you don't dry your dreads after washing them (multiple times)

Also, you can brush dreads out if you want to.

You won't. You'd have to be really unlucky and have damp hair most of the time. Kass recently combed hers out because hers had a mouldy smell that wouldn't go, but she had problems with a stinky community washing machine and lives in a very hot, moist climate that didn't help. (And I think she wanted a change). It's really rare and odd.

Oh, I see! I don't expect it would make it harder to brush them... just less pleasant. But yeah, wax-free dreads that are dry more often than wet are extremely unlikely to develop mould anyway.

Thank you for reassuring me, I get way too worried about mold and stuff!

I'm panicking a little right now, I made the mistake of washing my dreads in the evening last night. I blow dried them for about 40 mins, and gave them around 6 hours to air dry as well, and they felt dry. But I'm worried I didn't dry them through to the core, since this morning they feel really slightly damp. Does anyone know if I should be worried about this causing mold?

Stop worrying about mould. You're not going to suddenly have mouldering decaying hair. Lol. Quite often my dreads take over 24hrs to dry if I don't use a hairdryer which I often don't. Your not turning into a zombie.

I've been reading too many sites that make out that mold is super easy to get unless you never leave your dreads damp. Thanks for reassuring me

I think mold is a genuine concern for some people but, as James said, if you even half look after your locks then you'll be fine.
