Who're your favourite bands? Some of mine would be (although not all of them are bands), Led Zeppelin, The Doors, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Asia, Blind Melon, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones...

Well you should kick it off with your list I've got too many spanning too many decades and all sorts of genres, so it'd be crazy to list them. The band I've seen the most times live though have been The Smashing Pumpkins, because they were the main band I got into as an early teen. But I've gone through phases of only listening to 60's/ 70's bands, modern ambient electronica type stuff of various styles, psychedelic folk to modern weird folk, jazz. I mainly played punk for about 4 years. But I'd be best saying I like 'alt-rock ', like Sonic Youth etc. At the moment I'm into Mr Gnome, which I'd throw into that genre.

Sooo many. A lot of my favourites are either psychedelic rock, psytrance, psydub, dub/reggae, downtempo electronic etc. There's a running theme. Lately I've been listening to Shpongle, Ozric Tentacles, The Orb, Boards of Canada, Kaya Project, Eat Static etc.

Don't get Olly started, his list reads like a novel. When I was at school my friend lived near the the place so we'd go to his house at lunch and play his dad's records and steal his home brew. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Yes always remind me of those happy times.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa does that for me, James. I listened to my Dad's copy a lot when I was young.
To be honest, I've not been listening to as much music in the last year or two as I used to. I think I'm just busier now, and I spend a lot of time working on music in one way or another so I'm finding that I sometimes prefer not to have music on in my spare time.

So, hehe um was watching tthis yesterday...I remembered I made a list on another forum about a month ago. I'll have to get that and bring it over. I'm probably quite the minority here, not knowing a lot of bands you..."kids" talk about (well aware thatsome of you are older than me, but maybe not most atm..anyway..) Oh man! Should I admit the fact that, as an American growing up when I did and with whom I did...well idk I never made the connection that Sabbath was an English band. I knew Ozzy was...anyway, feeling dumb, but whatever. Funny because your name somehow got me looking up Deep PURPLE, which, I couldnt really NAME but one song, buti know my folks listened to them...English too. And of course, Zeppelin (they ARE on my list). I mean, I guess I never really thought about it! The only ones I knew for fact were English were the Beatles! Then, of course as I grew older, it seemed that EVERY band was from UK or Europe...now I actually listen to primarily American bands. Hehe funny! Anyway, I'll get that list for next time. Might find it to be gibberish. Or, might find it amusing.^^ Haha, I do the same thing! For a while it didn't occur to me that The Doors were American, or Janis Joplin. No idea why! I love Deep Purple, although my username is a reference to Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix, it's definitely one of my favourite songs. But yeah, you should post your list!

I like a very wide range of music, from Ludivico Enudi to Rammstein and pretty much everything in between... I don't listen to pop unless it's on the radio. I love Radiohead. Anything with a guitar.
My taste in music is definitely from my dad and we do gigs together quite a bit. Muse and Neil Young this year already.

Admittedly, I thought of Deep Purple at first (the band) but then I later realized Haze was Hendrix. Funny story...eh, but I'm not gonna tell that one now. Got my list. I can already think of a few more. Firstly though, I've gotta say, that my taste is very varied and most of these I will still say that I enjoy, however...I'm pretty much a rock girl, and not much into rap or country. I also can think of a few I left out of here already, I think Sabbath I forgot, um ok, Bon Jovi, Paula Abdul and well, the Beatles (but honestly, I prefer the 50s? stuff. hehe yeah, the original rock n' roll. XD) And finally, classical music, and I'd say Vivaldi is my favorite so like Baroque era, but I like a little from everything...eh, not soo much Renaissance...unless I want to laugh at a minstrel singing about unrequited love...okay, The list: (feel free to laugh though! ^^ and Hanson?? idk why that's there...maybe because of some memories, but I think I only know the one song! lol) favorite musicians-my history 80s MADONNA, the Cars, Scorpians, Quiet Riot (at least one song), Def Lepard, Led Zeppelin, Boston,... 1995 ACE OF BASE,TLC, ALANIS MORRISETTE, NO DOUBT, SMASHING PUMPKINS, 311, BUSH 1996/7: STONE TEMPLE PILOTS!, GREEN DAY, Pop (SPICE GIRLS, BSB, N'SYNC), Hanson 1998ish: NIRVANA, FUEL, EVERCLEAR, THIRD EYE BLIND, GOO GOO DOLLS, OFFSPRING, FOO FIGHTERS, SEMISONIC, Incubus STABBING WESTWARD, GARBAGE, Papa Roach, 1999: some Korn, LINKIN PARK, HOOBASTANK, Trust Company, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica-ok, (oh yes! and my friends' band. They were pretty great. Closest sounding to RHCP and what do you know, they had a song about PURPLE crayons. oh hilarious!) 2000s: Britney Spears, CHRISTINA AGUILERA 2001: JIMMY EAT WORLD, BLINK182, GOOD CHARLOTTE, ALIEN ANT FARM, Tori Amos, Jewel, System of a Down 2002: SUGARCULT, AVRIL LAVIGNE 2003: AFI-some, All American Rejects-some, Finch, Story of the Year, Korn,EVANESCENCE, Chevelle, Cold, 2004: THEUSED, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, KORN!, GOOD CHARLOTTE!, LACUNA COIL, LOST PROPHETS! some MCR, 2008: Aqua, Ace of Base 2014: Finger Eleven, Switchfoot 2015-Current: ALL OF MCR!, A LOT OF TBS (Taking Back Sunday), A LOT OF TheUsed, A LOT OF P!ATD (Panic! At the Disco), ALL OF PENCEY PREP, FIATC (Frank Iero and the Cellabration), some of the Ways music and Rays (Ways and the Rays haha-not my invention. oh, and former members of MyChemical Romance )

I was watching Big Hero 6 the other day and really loved the soundtrack. Turned out to be by Fall Out Boy. I used to listen to this band so much when I was 16-something, and forgot about it. Now I have found they have made new records and I am totally loving it haha! Haven't stopped listening. At first I felt 16 again, now I just sing along oout loud in the car and don't give a shit anymore. Can't wait for them to do a concert over here, I will for sure visit!
Besides that I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, lover classical music as well.

@haircare well, to be fairly honest. I didn't really like the film that much haha. It made me sad, it's not your average disney/pixar film. But that could have been me and my mindset at the time as well. I simply prefer either princessie stuff or kicking ass films haha! A lot of my co-workers or friends don't understand why I like FOB so it's cool

I liked big hero 6. Animations always make my eyes dribble. I need to design an Otis Redding rock T-shirt.

hehe are we getting off topic or what? (well, I did anyway^^) uhh yeah, hmm I like me some Pixar stuff (and Disney, but more Pixar obsessed). hmm so if I can, I'll see it... I guess I'll admit, I got a little weepy at the end of Toy Story 3...I don't like to get overcome by emotions when it comes to like inanimate objects...eh, but does that change when it's ANIMATion?? I guess I have to say yes, just because I weep at the human part of it. If that makes sense. Boy, that song takes me back! (I mean when I first heard it, like however many years ago when I was 6 or 7. ^^)

Too many artists for me to list. I have been on a blues and folkish kick lately though. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) did a side gig with Alison Kraus that I have really been enjoying.
I like artists that are talented, not poppy. I like music that tells a story or has a deeper meaning I guess.
I love classical (By Classical I mean like Bach, Beethoven, Shubert, etc.) reggae, rock, metal and very seldom, but sometimes, rap. (By very seldom I mean almost never). I also enjoy the occasional bit of dubstep.

Current favourites are Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Black Sabbath, Korn, Halestorm, Avatar... I'm in a metal-head mode as I just got back from a festival lol. Other times I can be found listening to the likes of Pink Floyd, Warpaint, Russian Circles, Tool.
