Hey guys Finihing my last rounds of chemo, and surgeries or lets just say be dragged through hell, i witnessed my hair growing out again.... A made a drowing of how i wanted to look like and the picture resembled long hair and beard, a wildsman. A promise not to cut my hair for a very long time..
So 1.5yeara later im sitting here with a massive bunch of hair that swirls, curls, and jazzes into dreads automaticly. If unwashed, fingercombed ill have something that looks like dreads.
So.... I am about to dread my hair, im doing this for controle, style and capoeira swag. But what dreading technique will be me to the dreada i want? Pictures of pre, now and wanting.

All dreadlocks end up looking the same no matter what method you start out with. I say you can go natural and just let you hair dread it self just do some separating. But if you want defined sections I say do back combing if you want fat dreads the fewer sections the fatter they will be I have 30 you can look at my timeline I started with back combing and then just left them alone I prefer fat ones too haha

The easiest way to dread is to let it go. The hardest way to dread is to let it go.

Congratulations on kicking cancer in the ass! Mine are bit more curly. I've gone natural for my first set. Each set after, I T&R'd. If you want thick, that's gonna depend on how much hair combines in each dread (these you need to leave be w/o separating them) and as well as how many loops you can fit in each. The more loops and splats the thicker the dread.

agree with everything said already.
My suggestion, if you absolutely feel you need to crochet...make sure you find someone who really knows what they're doing. I would personally not recommend this if you want dreads for long term though...just because, from doing it myself, it has causes a lot of issues for me, mainly residue. No smells or rot...yet! but there have been other signs.
I guess, whatever you do, just be sure you have the proper shampoo from day 1, and wash and dry your dreads properly.
best:D
