Hey all! Thought I'd get started on a timeline, because, why not! I washed my hair earlier, didn't condition or brush it and now waiting for it to 'rough up' a little before attempting any tnr's. I'm hoping that leaving it all natural like will help me see some natural sectioning to work with. Anyhoo, here's the boring before picture... You can see where the dyed hair ends and natural starts haha! Also the different lengths because I haven't cut it since having a really short hair cut about two years ago. Yeah, so there we go 5 or 6 months of growing later! Before washing And after washing... Oh the frizz!!! There we are. Much happier now

The easiest way to dread is to let it go. The hardest way to dread is to let it go.

nimbus, we have similar hair. My first set was natural and I ended up separating more than anything else. If you go T&R, which I've done for every set since, it will help move the process along a lot. I can see the sections now, just T&R the "clumps" that are already forming Enjoy!!

Thanks guys jxbx, T&R is my favourite way too, I'm just waiting for the right moment (hands free) to get started!

Hi nimbus, when you do get around to twist and rip could you post some pics about the process? I would love to see your technique!

Thought I'd better update - I'm putting dreads on hold for a bit until I've got time to deal with them! My normal hair takes time to look after it as it is! So I shall be back, soon I hope! xxxxx

So, I'm back!!! Yay! I've finally got time to get a start on tnr-ing (ah. Babies) Ok, so this is a front view of the 'before'... And now I'm all plaited up and sectioned ready to start the process. There's 36 plaits in total which doesn't seem that much considering how thick my hair is. I'm hoping that as I go along I'll realise that some are too thick in which case I'll split them into two. Anyhoo, hello again

It's done! 43 baby dreads in the making It took all week to do but they're finally tnr'd and I can get rid of those elastics I used to tie the plaits! No pictures right now because it's 11pm so I'll get on that tomorrow...
