Most of the time I've found the dreads LOVE the beach. The salt dries them out, which helps them lock up more tightly. As long as you condition them when you get back, I'd say have your fun! How do you condition? I have never really conditioned my dreads other than an ACV rinse afters deep clean from time to time.

I just use a normal conditioner, whack it on for a bit and wash out. It's different though as I only condition when I dye so, roughly every 6 weeks?
When I was out sailing for two weeks I conditioned extensively when I returned because the wind, rain and salt air dried my hair out considerably. I just bought the conditioner I used when I had straight hair, whacked it in, left it overnight and rinse.
Might not work for everyone but it's what I do.

When I condition I take my favorite conditioner, squirt a big glob of it in the bottom of a big cup, then fill the cup with hot water and stir, stir, stir. When it's pretty well dissolved I slowly pour the whole thing over my dreads. I have to do this a few times, I've got a lot of hair. Let sit for five minutes or so (good to do while you wash the rest 'o your body) and then rinse well. I've been doing this maybe once every other month for five years, I trimmed the ends off my dreads a few months ago and there was no gunk in them (and my conditioner is Pantene, which is not natural or no residue). Makes 'em much softer.

Getting dreads wet isnt bad but actually helps.. It's not try drying them out before laying down or wearing a head covering etc.
