Hello all,
My girl uses the Lock Docta to crocket in my incoming hair and fix any loops and so far it works miracles. However, the needles break easily and a replacement pack of 3 is $8.00. Does anyone know if the barbed super thin needle they use is available commonly anywhere else (perhaps a hatdware or sewing shop)? Or is ot something DreadHead HQ manufactures themselves and they are the only source for replacement needles? Any advice for this newbie to dreads would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I just use a really tiny crochet hook available at any fabric and craft store. I believe it’s a .06. I hope that helps!

I should mention that I only used the crochet hook to start my dreads, not to maintain them. You risk damaging them if you aren’t incredibly gentle and know exactly when you’re doing. Once you start them, let nature maintain them. It’s a long road to maturity, so don’t make it longer by damaging your babies!
