Just a heads up that, as of Jan 1st 2018, dreadlocktruth.com will point to the Facebook group as opposed to this forum, which will remain online at it's original address of dreadlocktruth.proboards.com (Tapatalk users, if you get an error then you'll need to unfollow the forum and search for it again. You'll know you have the right one as it'll read DreadlockTruth 3.0 rather than 2.0.) This may elicit an initial negative response from you, dear forum user, but here is the upside.... this essentially removes any cost related to keeping this place up and running (as proboards charges a fee to use a custom URL), meaning that all fears about its future deletion can be put to bed for good; the DreadlockTruth forum can now stay online indefinitely without it needing to justify any cost. So, that's it! No more worries about the forum closing or anything. Now it can simply be enjoyed whilst our URL points to an extremely active community (which will always contain a link back here).

Ooooh, that is good news! About the forum continuing to exist, I mean...
Even though I haven't spent a lot of time here recently (and I usually lurk when I do), the thought of it disappearing made me sad.
It's one of the few (probably only) corners of the internet where there are people that I think I would genuinly like to get to know!

Well, let's all get to know each other! What's one of your favourite things (be it a person, a work of art, a smell, an experience) in the world?

Ooo, good question...
I love the smell of my dog's paws; sort of herbally. And I love it when I scritch one of my rats when they have out-of-the-cage time (they're males, and about 1,5 years old, but they're still 10 times more lively than I remember the ones we had when I was a kid!) and he sits still for it, and seems to enjoy it (and I generally like the way they smell, too ;-).
I love getting something fun in the mail! A postcard, a magazine, something small I'd ordered from far away that I had forgotten about, a letter; although that last one hasn't happened in years.
Going to a movie that I haven't heard/read a lot about yet (I have a subscription that allows me unlimited arthouse movies, so I often take a chance on something) and being blown away / mesmerized / thrilled / moved / fascinated - then coming out of the movie theater into the ordinary day again, feeling like I have been far away for a really long time.
Using my hand grinder to grind fresh coffee; it feels deliciously crunchy.
Having a really great dream and remembering most of it the next day.
Wearing something I have knit myself that turned out well (even after years of knitting, it is still often a bit of a surprise how something will look on me in the end).
Starting to read a book and getting completely absorbed in it (preferably with lots of time to read that day). Books in general, really; I do read on my e-reader for convenience, cost, lack of more bookshelf-space and because I can knit while reading an e-book; but my heart is with actual paper books. The size, colour and thickness of the pages (or thin-ness! I love those cheap Dover editions with the thin paper), font, smell, a nice hardcover with beautiful endpapers or a small, convenient, small fun pocket edition...
Eta: I forgot - Berlin!! I spent a few days there again last October, and was reminded of how much I love that place. There is something so lively and scruffy and inclusive about it that is really wonderful. I'd love to live there for a while at some point in my life! Of course, it helps that my favorite movie of all time takes place there; Der Himmel Ueber Berlin (Wings of Desire), not to be confused with the monstruous 'remake' with Nicholas Cage.
How about you?
Ps: do you know how I can change my signature? I think my ticker got confused; I'm sure I got my dreads started on November 29th (although I'm not quite sure if that was in 2015 or 2014...)

Nice list, Bummble. Can't disagree with any of them. I guess this is something I'm still getting to, in terms of my career as an artist, but I love creating worlds with characters etc. Not necessarily in writing them, myself, but creating them visually. Right now I've only drawn one-off stories that are self-contained but one day I'd love to have created a world that inspires other people to write stories about it. As I don't want kids, I think that's my ideal way of leaving a legacy.... an idea that takes on a life of it's own in the imagination. Ps: do you know how I can change my signature?
