I remember my first time,March of 1995.My mom has the pictures somewhere, has not found them to this day.I was with my mom at the hair salon, she was getting her hair done and seen a lady with dreadlocks come in.I did ask her about them and told this lady they were cool.My mom was amazed I was so nice about it.This lady said thank you and answered my questions. This was in Febuary of 1995 and told my mom I wanted dreadlocks done.My mom said I had to keep my grades up in school to get them.Well,I proved this to her very well and she said I proved it to her.Went in for the appointment to have them done.Walked in and right in the chair. The person that did them was amazed I never moved at all and was happy with them. When I looked in the mirror for the first time, said I love them them.My mom saw I was never going to get rid of them seeing me happy. It was one of the best rewards I got from my mom.My mom was also amazed I knew how to take care of them right away.My dad,it took him time to adjust to this,he was not ok with it at all at first. He finally learned this is me and to live with it.

My buddy when I was around 20 or 19 got these cool dudes in a band to dreadlock his hair. They started off using superglue but it ran out then used plastic PVA glue. He used to sit over at mine smoking a doobie and picking glue out his hair. That’s what I thought dreadlocks were before I found they just happen.
