Ello dread fellows! This is my second set of TnR dreads started around 2/4/16. My last set I started in 2012, was about 1 year 3 months when I combed them and I've pretty much missed them every since. I always knew I'd create another set in the near future, mostly for practical reasons (really thin lifeless hair that constantly fell out and created a layer on top of the carpet, clogged the vacuum, less need for washing which makes backpacking soooo much more uhhmayzing, less daily maintenance etc.)... so here I am. Even though I started this one the same way as the last, my hair was longer this time, roughly 18-22" and I did my TnR a lot tighter than my previous set. I may try to post some comparison pics from my old timeline to show the differences in progress this time around. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy.
Okay so I think this was literally like the day of or the day before starting them.
Here we are finished... sort of. I wasn't happy with how big some of the sections were in the back, so I ended up spending a weekend combing out like 8 long TnRs and splitting some into like 2 and 3 new ones. Yeah, that was pure enjoyment So I ended up with 57, but I'm sure that will lessen with time.
Mmmmkay try to contain the ooooos and aahhhhs, here they are after week 1. (I'll only do week posts during the first month, after that just monthly and this is going to be a pretty simplistic timeline )
Please contain your amazement since these dreadies have reached a whopping 2 weeks I have to show a comparison pic from my old set because I'm really amazed at the difference of how loose the first ones were compared to them now.
Here's ↓ my old set at 2 weeks. I think the two big differences this time around were that I made them much tighter and I waited as long as possible before their first wash. That's all for now, see ya in a week.
Okie dokie! Today (2/28/16) is about 3 weeks for this dreadhead. Earlier in the week I had to do a BS soak because my scalp was so freakin itchy. I'd been using a fruit stem cell shampoo from my local co-op and although it's great, I just don't think it's capable of the super deep clean that the BS provides. Of course baby dreads were super soft afterwards, scalp was extra happy and the inevitable shrinkage took place... good things, good things. Thanks for stoppin by, see ya at the month mark!
Well, these lil guys have made it to the 1 month mark, but not much be happenin. So here's to the next month! *cheers*
And for fun, a comparison from my old TnR set at 1 month...
Posting this about a week late, but the lil dreads are just over 2 months now and finally starting to gain some personality! Loops n loops are forming (mostly with loose hair at the base of each dread) and within the past week I've noticed a lot more so I'm excited to see that they are now beginning to move and transform.
And since I couldn't find a comparison pic from zee old set, here's some detail pics of the goings on of my hair. My two larger dreads are at the base of my neck and just behind my ear and ones that I should have split up earlier on, but didn't. With the thin tiny dreads in the front (what would be bangs) I was really worried they were too thin, but I think they will thicken to an appropriate size for their location. Pretty much all around just loving and embracing this set <3
Yowza! Long time no post... I'm apparently quite shitty at consistently updating Anyway, I figured at the very least I should give a 1 year update. Happy Birthday lil tree roots, here's to another year!
