This is what I wrote in my introduction thread: Hello there =) New to the forum and to dreadlocks. I think Im about 3 months in and I have no idea if its "working" or not. The only thing I am sure of is this: my hair is absolutely crazy and I look like I have been living in the wilds most of my life. So, now I am here to learn more about my new hair (I have already viewed tons of timelines and find it an absolute joy) My method is twist and rip.
Before I started.
Day one:
3 months in. Oh the mess. So much mess.
3 months. Two of my buddies are supershort.
3 months. Not a hair on my head is behaving. Please let me know if this is not looking right.
In approx two weeks my locks will be 4 months. I had some changes since last time. This happened:
Thats right.. My right side is short and the other side is long. My plan to hide my growing sidecut under the hair became a little bit harder.
But I can use the old comb over trick:
Update: the hair in my back, fringe and sides were not locking up so I went ahead and backcombed them. This made me wonder if backcombing would have been the ideal way to dread my hair to begin with because it looks better. On the other side I figured I just cant be bothered. This is a project were time plays the main role so it will be interesting to see if the backcombed ones will shrink as much as the twist and ripped hair. Anyway.. I already have the one supershort side and also now have charming mullet thing going on in the back.
Mullet style:
I thought it would be fun to take a closer look at my bumps and loops:
All the bumps, loops and crazyness:
4 months.
All my hair on the top of my head has shrunk to finger size. Still got some lenght in my fringe and back (only because they refused to lock, so they are newborns). I did not think anything was happening, but I guess something *has* happened because there is a difference in the back I did not notice before I took this 4 month picture. Yay!
5 months (still hating my hair):
6 months (starting to have days I kind of like it):
