They look fantastic, with subtle differences like getting thicker. I also backcombed, and when that fell out I did some tnr which mostly fell out... and eventually I got the memo that I needed to just let my hair do what it wants! Haha. I notice little things changing every month, so I know we will get there eventually! Keep at it, the best is surely yet to come!

It took me a year for mine to even resemble dreads at all. I really saw progress towards the end of year two. i dyed my hair myself and holy crap the amoutn of time i had to spend in the shower to squish it out of the dreads gave me instant progress - so much shrinkage when i got out it was INSANE. wash your hair lots with your head flipped and just be rough as heck and get a lot of movement in there. lol.

Second washing alot. When you have hair that doesn't knot as easy as some wetting and use your hair to wash your hair(flip head upside down and hold a couple inches away from scalp) and use the hair like a wash cloth. I use to wash all gentle and barely mess it then I started doing that and squeezing etc. Everyone is different though.

Haha really? That's so cool, maybe I should dye mine haha That's a good idea, I need to be a little rougher with them when washing. Thank you!

Sleeping helped me, that is to say I don't wear a silk dread cap or anything like that I move them away from my neck and apparently I roll my head a lot. Some people have used toques and rubbed those around.
Make sure your hair is actually squeaky clean (Not your scalp just your hair).
Salt didn't create much of a difference for me, but that's not to say it won't work for you.
Dish soap in your locks only. Yes I tried this once and it slightly helped but once again do not use this on your scalp. I used blue dawn the original. This is not something I recommend doing more than once or twice. And I can't stress enough do not get this on your scalp.
Patience. That's the hardest, we are so accustomed to instant gratification that we think something is wrong when things take longer. That applies to all of us.
Good luck on your dread journey and don't worry you will get there.

My neglects are 2 years now and just keep going. a year from you'll think it's terribly funny how much you worried. but trust me, your patience will pay off. the only time i saw a really huge crazy progression at once was when i dyed my hair and it took 40 minutes to squish it out of the dreads. when i got out, my hair i was shocked that my hair had shrunk from boob length to shoulder length - i think it was because I was squishing with an upwards motion after a while when my arms got tired. but it was craaaazy.
