Nearly 5 years guys, can't believe it!
So, I used to be on DT under the name Missnomad, and I began my journey with you guys all that time ago, so it's only fitting I show you how far I've come.
I remember starting my journey and looking up to everyone with dreads older than 3 years and being like "wow, it will take me forever for my dreads to look that good...
Day one- just dreaded
A few weeks- looping happened super quick
1 to 3 months- not much changed, thin but happy dreadlings
4 to 6 months- sudden, literally overnight change. I remember looking in the mirror one morning and wondering where my hair went. I also learned that day what ugly hair was.
6months to a year- couldn't tolerate that shit, it was horrific, so i did some ill advised maintenance... I'm not sorry however, they looked better once I was finished. Still seeing massive shrinkage, and natural blunting is occurring. Humid weather helped me here.
1 year to 2 years- not much changed, I undreaded the front few dreads to allow for a softer look, and to prove to people it could be done. I also undreaded some ugly and rather misshapen blunted tips.
2 years to 3 years- lots changed, length just sped up, I shaved the sides of my hair off (no dreads were harmed), I added silk wraps, removed them after my neck began to hurt, and then had to remove about 6 dreads from the front of my head to alleviate even more weight. No issues since removal thankfully.
*this was how healthy my hair was after undreading*
3 years and 4 months- other than length nothing has changed. I have had a mild upset with the ends of my dreads being so brittle from bleach (well over 4 years ago now) but that's a bridge I will cross another time. I adore my dreads and I can't wait for more years of length!
4 years and 7 months, I've been travelling Australia and New Zealand for a year so photos have been neglected but I'll give you some that show my journey.
I attempted growing out the fringe and that shit didn't work at all, so it's back, and with my "I turned 30 and need a change" green fringe.
I will not ever be colouring my dreads, I thought about it and a lot of love has gone into my hair, colouring the dreads would ruin what I see as a work of patience and love.
