Never got into the Boosh, although I like both the guys from their appearances in NMTB and Nathan Barley.

Yeah, I wasn't into it when it was on TV but a friend put some on a while ago and it clicked with me.

Old Greg was a pretty popular skit here in the US a few years ago. Me and my buddies quoted it for quite awhile.

I'm always surprised how well-known some UK things are over there... like Top Gear, even though I am very much not a fan, apparently that's quite popular.
The odd side of it is that Only Fools and Horses, probably the most popular comedy of all time in this country, is never mentioned on US lists of British comedy. I wonder if it doesn't translate or if it just hasn't found its way over there?

Top Gear is one of the biggest shows worldwide, isn't it? Maybe I'm making this up, but I thought I heard that somewhere.
Speaking of British comedy in the US, they tried remaking Fawlty Towers 4 times or something and it never took off.

I remember they tried to make their own version of "Peep Show", removing the first-person element and thus making the title meaningless.... o.0
And then there's the US remake of Spaced ha.
All of which is not to slag off the US, of course... some of the best comedy in entertainment has been coming from there for a long time.

Yeah. I am also not a Top Gear person but very popular. And of course we took "The office" and remade it and that show ran for quite some time. I was a fan.

Yeah, I think the US Office was popular here? Some people prefer it to the UK one. I've not seen much of it though.

I preferred it over the little bit of the original I Watched. But again I am sure some of it is a cultural familiarity.

In saying that, quite a lot of Brits weren't into the UK office either. It's not exactly an instant gripper, I think you have to get to know the characters to enjoy it.

I'm surprised you have that impression, Olly, I've always found it considered to be one of the best British comedies in my various friend groups lol. Maybe it's a generational thing? gingerdreadman, what US shows (besides the obvious world-wide hits) would you recommend?

What type Sir? Honestly as I am not sure how much our stuff gets over there. I just have a feeling most of what we watch prob is worldwide to an extent. I feel like the UK as far as movie and tv goes has a more regional ,for lack of a better word, system. I may be way way off on that assumption. But going from the way I see from media over here it seems that theatre and stuff has a way more lively presence over there. We have broadway of course and I do live in a rural/less cultured state here. But there are bigger cities within a few hours drive. Also I do not watch tons of tv these days. I have used Netflix and hulu and no cable for the past four years. I worked at a movie store , when we still had them, for five years as a manager. So i have watched a lot of movies from that time frame. But if you tell me what you like. I will throw out what i can think of and we will see if you have watched them.
