Also... Every now and then without twisting i would just split the hair and pull tightly and do that a couple times (not sure if it had any positive effect or anything but just thought id add)

olivebreath That sounds like a good method. A combo of T&R and back combing. That's kind of what I've been doing... sort of. I've sat and T&Red the sections in one sitting and then have returned to them with a comb to knot up the tips when they start to come undone a bit. Seems to be working. I added another one last night, so I have four now. I think I just need to just jump off and do my whole head because I just want more at this point . I checked with my work and dreadlocks seem to be fine with the dress code. I went ahead and warned my family that this is what I want to do. My mom was surprisingly cool with it. My dad and brother... not so much. But I'm going to do it anyway. It turns out that one of my good friends actually LOVES the idea of dreadlocks and want to help me form them, so I might have a whole head of baby dreads by the end of this week. So, we can keep this thread going for anyone interested in also starting test dreads, but I probably just need to start my own timeline at this point. Thank you guys so much for your help and encouragement. Oh, and olivebreath, my job is pretty sweet. Turtle Bay is a nature park here in Northern California. We do have turtles, but that's actually just the name of the bend in the Sacramento river where we are located. We have all sorts of animals here. I'm the parrot keeper. So I literally get to hang out with parrots all do. No joke. I wonder what they will think of my dreads?
