I'd like to think they leave me alone out of respect since my babies are currently in their spider leg phase.

Ohhh my gosh... I don't want to even think about spiders near my locks!

I had a centipede crawl out of one of my dreads and land on my arm. It had to have been in there a couple of days, because the only time we were anywhere that had centipedes was when we were camping in the mountains. Gross!

Aaaagh!
But yeah, Yogi, I get freaked out about the idea of bugs in/on/near my hair. The worst is during summer when I go for a walk and keep finding midges on my shirt, arms etc.... I think they must be landing on my head, too, so I have to try stuff all of my hair into a hat.

My dreadlock related bug fear is wasps and bees, and fly's that sound like them. I've had numerous get caught in my hair and freak out, buzzing like crazy, but am yet to be stung.

Yeah, I think I've told this before but I was cycling once and a wasp flew STRAIGHT into the root of a dread. It was stuck there, vibrating away, until I reached up to try and remove it and stuck my finger right on its sting.... I then just pulled it out, arse-first.
That feeling when they're stuck and buzzing is horrible, isn't it? -.-

Ugh. I hate bees. I am allergic to them, so hopefully I don't get any stuck in my dreads!

I was reminded by a post in another thread that mentioned spiders, but have you guys had it when you're sitting there and then suddenly one of the little eight-legged gits sails down in front of your face from your locks? It doesn't happen very often but I've had it probably 4-5 times, always makes me jump. I get this all the time, I just put them back in my locks. I probably have a whole menagerie in there at times. I think its because I miss the tarantulas I used to keep

The closest I've (thankfully) gotten to the spider thing is finding a huge spider leg in my hair. Yeah, no. No spiders. NO. lol
I occasionally feel like something might be crawling but it goes away if I leave an area or wash my hair. I think it's probably not a bug, just energy or something. I used to freak myself out when a strand of my own hair would brush across my skin, pre-dreads. Or one would shed and fall and I would panic because clearly it was a spider. *rolls eyes at myself*

One of my kids found a dead moth in my hair! They said my hair was the place moths went to die I was more worried about moths getting into and eating my yarn stash and spinning fibres!

Haha moths. Noooo.
A recent event led me to realize that sometimes getting stuff in dreads is fun and sometimes it's horrific. Word of advice: if you feel nauseated to any degree, even if it's been 10 years since your last vomit and have had many times before where you fought it off over those ten years, PUT YOUR HAIR UP AND KEEP IT UP UNTIL YOU FEEL OK AGAIN.

Wondering if I should cut my long ends… but then I'll lose a bit of length This pic shows the extent of the wispy ends, and this one below shows a little of the length

Nooo wispy ends are great... but then I'm admittedly biased. They're good for draining water out of your hair when you wash it too. Helps in tying hair back when you're lacking length as well.
