This was always a popular thread on the old site. I don't have any pictures to hand but here's a vid from last year. ;p He shared it on the forum before so hopefully he won't mind me reposting but Lazydreads has some great 'in motion' pics.

Ohhh, ok didn't actually watch but...reminds me that I forgot to ask about your dreads (like yea, Charlie was distracting ) Um, but I noticed yours (or maybe they're supposed to be this way?) um the new ones I guess, are like very pliable??? and soft maybe? they do stiffen as they mature tho right? because mine are very stiff now.

I'm not really sure what you mean, to be honest! In terms of flexibility, they're no different to anyone else's dreads I've encountered.... they're literally just like ropes. And they were about four years old in that video (that's the same set I have now, just in case you were confusing them with my old set)

Carrie, leave them alone and wash often, they should soften at least a bit mine were crocheted few times, but fortunately they aren't so stiff and I had to ask anybody to take me picture headbanging

I don't know how else to explain it either I prefer bably sound ridiculous but oh well.

Well, they're 8 years old and 90% of them are what have grown out of my head rather than what I back-combed in... I'd hope they'd be mature by now lol. ;p

Oh, I didn't watch the vid so I didn't even think about those ha.
Well, they're a little softer than the rest of my dreads but they were done by twist and rip, not back-combing (and I found twist and rip to be a much better method). Also they were probably like months old in that vid, I can't remember when I dreaded up my grown-out undercut, but they were likely not very old so maybe that's why.

The term twist and RIP sounds so deceiving the term I heard on another site was twist and pull, cause you don't rip per say but rather twist then pull the hair down.

... I don't know, there's a definite ripping sensation lol. Now I feel stupid I always though of ripping as breaking like ripping a paper ripping your shirt. So I looked up the definition.... verb tear or pull (something) quickly or forcibly away from something or someone Sorry for the misunderstanding.

jxbx, lots of movement with such long dreads! I half expected the weight of them might keep them from bouncing up so much? (So much to learn! ) Also, Dreadlocktruth, acidburn, (Wait, Paul, should I stop bugging you with so many tags? Cuz I bet you will see this anyway Anyway, I thought it was pull and twist too er reverse that! Then I came to this site. I think, I think! L D has said pull, not rip, but I could be wrong. Also, either does actually fit.
