Hey'o!
I threw down a few notes in the introduction section but I wanted to
start up my own timeline right away before I let it get away from me and it's long lost in the "fuck-it bucket". I'm super new to dreads. Only started learning about 4-5 months ago and then finally jumped right in and got started early Feb. '16. Took me quite a while because I was doing them myself and I was completely self taught. So, naturally... all i could think was OH FUCK I hope i'm doing this at least partially right. I think I did okay.. they're holding up nicely thus far. ( as far as I can tell) No one I know personally knows jack-all about dreads..so I'm kind-of on my own with this personal journey i've embarked on Anyyyywhoo... I'm just going to throw some pictures up and go from there...
Day 1
20 days
1 month 10 days
-----------------------------------------
TWO MONTHS
Not much new going on except for some minor dreading near the roots. Getting a few loopies..but nothing major. Lots of frizzzzz
------------------------------------------
THREE MONTHS
Finally getting loops all over (pictures do not do justice).. They are tightening up nicely and starting to shrink. I have huge loopies all over and am wearing them proudly even though they are obscenely popping out in he most unflattering places. Progress is so satisfying
----------------------------------------
4 MONTHS
Im falling more and more in love every day. They are really starting to go crazy and im finding myself separating at the roots and pulling random hairs out of the wrong dread quite often. They are hungry little monsters!!
This little guy is quite the character
-----------------------------------------
5 months
Really started to notice the shrinking at this point. Lumps forming like crazy as they are working to mature. Kind of a "not so pretty" time. I could do Nothing to control them at this point and it definitely was an awkward phase. A perfectly timed lesson for "learning to let go and let things take their course".
---------------------------------------
!!!!! 6 MONTHS !!!!!!!
It feels amazing to be at this point. After the last couple months of chaotic ratty frizzie mess i am loving that they are calming down and you can see how WORTH IT it was. I know there's a long road ahead to full maturity but my word...I am so in love with whats happening. Cannot wait to see what the next 6 months bring.
I'm really just so freaking happy about my dreads.. It's absolutely one of the best decisions i have ever made for myself !!
-----------------------------------------------
7 MONTHS
Nothing really noteworthy to say. Just a small amount of shrinkage taking place.. The photos were taken with fairly dirty hair(probably a little over a week without soap, just water rinsing during showers) Also there was an ocean visit a couple days ago and that natural sea salt still remains
Only have a couple pics to add... To keep in good terms with my timeline
